    The Skagway admin team's main responsibility is to carry out our company mission of providing each guest with a safe, enjoyable and educational wilderness experience. The Skagway admin team facilitates the operation of our day programs via phone and radio dispatch, scheduling, sales, cruise ship correspondence, dock representation and ensuring that guides complete their jobs and their corresponding paperwork. The Skagway admin team also contributes some sales and logistical facilitation to our long trip programming. REQUIREMENTS Prior office and/or tourism experience preferred Must be proficient in Outlook and Microsoft Office products Have a clean driving record and be able to be placed on our company auto insurance Must have or obtain a basic first aid and CPR certification Must be able to think nimbly and problem solve quickly and effectively Willingness to help in other areas as needed including but not limed to, driving/guiding tours, expedition sales, assisting Skagway office. JOB DUTIES Reports to Skagway Office Manager Assisting the Skagway Office Manager in running daily operations which includes but is not limited to: Guide scheduling Radio dispatch General office phone reception Dock representation Assisting with allotment management within our proprietary database, BaseCamp Correspondence with partners - both cruise lines and local businesses Trip paperwork management Manage merchandise inventory and sales Data entry Confirm and approve settlement sheets between cruise lines & our accounting department Assist Operation and Program Managers with company meeting agendas Guide time sheet approvals WORKLOAD June, July, and August are busy and the Skagway Admin Assistant can expect to receive 50+ hours per week. The nice thing is that Alaska has very generous overtime laws and the Skagway Admin Assistant can expect quite a jump in your paycheck size. During this time, the office will be a very busy environment and the Skagway Admin Assistant will be expected to juggle dispatch, scheduling, guide requests, phone calls, and more all while remaining calm and organized. LIVING SPACE AND RENT STRUCTURE Employee housing is located in downtown Skagway, the grocery store and other attractions are within walking distance from housing. Accommodations consist of shared rooms typically 2-4 beds to a room, although the largest room is a 6-occupant bunkroom. Each house features shared bathrooms, a kitchen area, and living room. Employees residing in housing are expected to respect others and maintain a clean living area. Rent procedures are outlined in the Employee Manual. The two downtown houses share a large yard and mountain views, providing a fantastic base for our team. Additional Notes Rent deductions are made twice a month with 50% of the month's rent deducted from the 1st and 2nd paycheck. Rent is prorated for the first month, rent for the last pay period will be deducted in full even if you vacate housing early. Employees must vacate housing within 48 hours of their final shift unless other arrangements have been approved by management. Failure to abide by rules outlined in the employee manual and housing agreement may result in immediate expulsion from employee housing. Pets - No Cats, No Dogs. First season employees may not have pets in employee housing. Any other pets must be approved by management.

You will lead clients up the Chilkoot Trail and down the Taiya River safely and enthusiastically with an ultimate goal of satisfied passengers at the end of each trip. Description of Guided Programs: Chilkoot Trail Hike & Float & Scenic Drive Excursions Chilkoot Trail Hike & Float: Hike two miles of the historic Chilkoot Trail, the centerpiece of the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. Enjoy the exercise, fresh air, beautiful scenery, pristine forests, and history of a bygone era as the trail takes you up and over the 350' tall Saintly Hill. Where the trail reaches the banks of the Taiya River, you will board an 18-foot inflatable raft for a three-mile scenic float (no whitewater) back down to the tidal estuary where the forest gives way to fields of beach greens and wildflowers below the granite walls of the fjord that rise steeply to the snow-capped peaks and hanging glaciers. Additionally, all Hike & Float guides will train into the “Gear Guide” position. This is the behind-the-scenes role that ensures all rafts and gear are set up properly for guests when their hike ends. The gear position requires driving a box truck with a trailer attached. REQUIREMENTS Prior guiding, leadership, or tourism experience is helpful. Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds repeatedly throughout each day. Must be able to carry loads over uneven ground. Must possess strong work ethic. Must be punctual. Must be organized. Must have great, positive attitude. Must be comfortable speaking to large groups of people. Must be willing to become, or be currently certified as, a Wilderness First Responder, CPR, and Swift Water Rescue. WFR or above is for this guiding position. The naturalist will escort guests in buses, vans, and airporter vehicles on a series of trips which travel around to local attractions, visit outdoor recreation sites, stop at museums and take scenic drives as far as the summit of Chilkat Pass. Naturalists lead the guests through the entire tour, narrate during the drives, and assume responsibility for overall guest experience. In addition to providing an enjoyable and informative tour for the guests, naturalists are also responsible for logistical aspects of the tour such as taking and counting tickets, helping to set up and take down the lunches, escorting guests to the restrooms, etc. Naturalists are expected to obtain a CDL license; CDL training is provided by the company. REQUIREMENTS Be at least 21 years old by April 2026 Must possess a valid passport and be able to enter Canada. Completion of Haines Driver training program (minimum of 8 hours). Must be willing to become certified or possess current certification in at least CPR and First Aid. Drivers must demonstrate the ability to set up all of the various site elements including tables, PFDs, food and follow low impact guidelines in bear country. The campground has (4) plumbed bathroom/shower units and a communal cooking area due to the presence of bears in our area we prohibit cooking/food storage outside the communal cooking space. The campground is located on the same lot as our warehouse/office making the commute to work convenient for any staff planning to come to Alaska without a vehicle. There is a laundromat located within a short walk down the street. A guide room is located on the corner of the warehouse with access to WiFi. REQUIREMENTS Maintain a Class B CDL with Passenger and Airbrakes endorsement. Some Skagway CDL positions may only require a Class C CDL. Pass FMCSA pre-employment drug tests & screening. Have and maintain a valid Medical Examiner's Card. Must possess a valid passport and be able to enter Canada. Completion of AMGA Haines Driver training program (minimum of 8 hours). Must be willing to become certified or possess current certification in at least CPR and First Aid. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout each day. Must be able to carry loads over uneven ground. Prior guiding, leadership, and tourism experience helpful. JOB DUTIES Have and maintain a clean driving record to be insured by AMGA insurance. Maintain an FMCSA approved logbook for driving hours. Complete vehicle checklists as needed. Responsible for cleanliness and excellent maintenance of buses, tour equipment, and the locations that the tours visit. Responsible for communicating all gear and vehicle issues to maintenance staff. Complete appropriate driver checklists and paperwork at the end of each shift. Must be a safe driver and obey all traffic laws. Work closely with, assist, and take directions from the trip ‘Spieler', who is responsible for overall guest experience throughout the tour. Assist the ‘Spieler' in greeting clients, facilitating introductions, and getting clients enthusiastic. Assist the ‘Spieler' in ensuring sure all guests have signed waivers and collected tickets. Responsible for communicating all incidents to Haines Program Manager. Must possess a positive attitude that is friendly, considerate and energetic. Must be willing to work as a great team member. Help the guides load and unload guests and gear throughout the trips. Be willing to escort guests around the various venues, to the restrooms, etc. Help set up and take tour equipment and lunch supplies as needed. Be able to maintain a tight schedule to ensure groups stay on schedule throughout all aspects of the tour. Good leadership skills, ability to communicate with and facilitate activities for groups up to 50 people. Follow AMGA policies and procedures at all times. Assist with other jobs/projects as needed by AMGA administration, this may include but is not limited to: Assisting with food prep for cruise program. Associated program maintenance needs. Non-CDL driving of passengers or equipment. Assist with grounds/lodging maintenance, cleaning, and general support. PROFESSIONALISM AMG employees represent the company whether they are working with clients packing in the warehouse, or off the clock and hanging in town. Employees residing in housing are expected to respect others and maintain a clean living area. Rent procedures are outlined in the Employee Manual. The two downtown houses share a large yard and mountain views, providing a fantastic base for our team. Additional Notes Rent deductions are made twice a month with 50% of the month's rent deducted from the 1st and 2nd paycheck. Successful completion of these courses will grant you IWLS certifications. These skills are transferrable and can be used with any similar employer or even for recreational purposes.
