This employee provides technical, administrative, and analytical duties in the administration of the WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) Program. Employee utilizes dietetic skills, performs research, data collection, analysis, report writing, and follow-up; applies rules and regulations; and coordinates assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies and the general public. Performs related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications (KSAs) (Illustrative only. Principles and practices of program development and administration. Principles of business letter writing and report preparation. Pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations. Skill to: Operate appropriate computer equipment; use properly all related hardware and software. Operate assigned vehicle in the course of duty. Required Education and Experience Each applicant must have two years of experience as a Dietitian Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in health, nutrition, dietetics, or a related field. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Must have a valid Driver's License. Must have a valid State of Ohio Board of Dietitians License. Must be registered with the American Dietetics Association. CLC or IBLC certification desirable. Must be an excellent communicator and team builder. Assists program management staff in budget development and administration processes;researches and collects data; identifies need for budget adjustments and modifications asappropriate and necessary; notifies staff of deadlines and material needs; assists inmonitoring of expenditures and ensures adherence to department budget. Coordinates various financial activities including monitoring and submitting requisitions,preparing purchase orders, and monitoring travel and training requests. Applies rules and regulations to provide administrative direction for WIC program or management systems which may include personnel management, purchasing processes, training programs, or others. Researches, compiles, and analyzes information from various sources on a variety of specialized topics; compiles reports and activity logs; makes recommendations or findings; prepares detailed summaries; tracks progress of projects such as Farmer's Market Nutrition Program. Participates on a variety of committees; prepares and presents staff reports and othercorrespondence as appropriate and necessary. Assists with program literature material recommendations and requests and provides nutrition education and certification as needed; prepares written materials to communicate departmental activities and programs for internal and external distribution; assists with public relations activities; acts as a resource to persons with inquiries about departmental services, activities and programs. Develops program series to increase awareness and knowledge of personal health and wellbeing; plans, prepares, and conducts nutrition education classes. This includes scheduling and interviewing clients on phone and in the home, completing appropriate applications and paper work; determining funding eligibility and services for which client qualifies; providing alternate sources to those ineligible; providing follow-up with agency staff; and documenting client changes and concerns. Responsible for working closely across departments, attending and contributing to cross department meetings.
