As a member of the ISSWT, you'll engage in direct practice, including:
Addressing backlog cases in assessments
Conducting case initiations
Supporting Family In-Home Services and Permanency Planning
Participating in after-hours and weekend on-call rotations
Providing practice aligned with state law and policy
Eventually, carrying cases in partnership with counties

Required Competencies:
Must have at least five years of experience as a Child Protective Services worker or Supervisor in NC, with forensic training preferred.
Deep knowledge of NC policy, practice, continuous quality improvement practices, and engagement of families and children

Investigative Assessment and Treatment SocialWorker
(adapted from NC DHHS OSHR Classification Specs)
Description
This position will assess initial reports of abuse, neglect, and dependency in order to protect the child in accordance with the General Statues of the State of North Carolina. Caseworker may also have duties including performing risk assessments, developing a service plan, frequent home visits and contacts to provide and document services, arranging and coordinating support services, information/referral, quarterly assessment to document/renew goals, and other case management services that are definable, reasonable efforts to protect the child in the home. Will participate in the rotation of on-call duties with other socialworkers in the Child Welfare units.
Duties and Responsibilities
SocialWorker Investigative/Assessment and Treatment in the Investigations Team will receive alleged reports of abuse, neglect and/or dependency and determine; within legally mandated time frames by quick assessment of the degree of risks to potential victim children by appropriate investigative techniques; if said reports are unfounded and should be unsubstantiated or found to not be in need of services or have risen to the level of statutory definitions of such offenses in GS 7B-101 and require substantiation or a finding of in need of services and involuntary intervention to ensure the safety of victim children.
Workers may help the County with backlog (cases over mandated timeframes in assessments), completing backlog cases in assessment, initiations, carrying cases, after-hours on-call, performing social work aligned with law and policy, and modeling, mentoring, coaching, and training new socialworkers
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices, and their application to complex casework, group work, and community problems.
Considerable knowledge of a wide range of medical behavioral and psychological problems and their treatment.
Considerable knowledge of family and group dynamics and a range of intervention techniques. Considerable knowledge of governmental and private organizations and resources in the community.
Considerable knowledge of the laws, regulations, and policies which govern the program. General knowledge of the methods and principles of casework supervision and training.
In certain settings, considerable knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes and their treatment as they relate to decisions regarding clinical interventions and appropriate therapies based on medical or psychological diagnosis.
Skill in establishing rapport with a client and in applying techniques of assessing psychological, behavioral, and psychological aspects of client's problems.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of caseload and their families as well as civic, legal, medical, social, and religious organizations.
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively.
Desired Education and Experience
Master's degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work experience; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counseling experience;
or
Master's degree in a counseling field and two years of social work or counseling experience; or a four-year degree in a human services field or related curriculum and three years of social work or counseling experience; or graduation from a four-year college or university and four years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling or a related human service field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work or community organization; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. One year of work experience can be credited for completion of the social work collaborative.

ROLE OVERVIEW:
SocialWorkers at KIPP North Carolina provide crucial support and services to students. In this role, socialworkers will work directly with students, teachers, community partners and families to provide individual and group counseling, as well as link families to long-term solutions and external support organizations. The Family Advocacy Treatment Manager (FATM)
is a member of the multidisciplinary Family Advocacy Program (FAP) team and provides the following services:
Assess and treat individuals, families, and groups whose maltreatment allegation(s) meet criteria for maltreatment.
Provide voluntary, comprehensive prevention services to prevent the occurrence of family maltreatment.
The FATM is the primary provider of treatment services for assigned maltreatment and prevention cases, coordinating services for families and monitoring client participation and progress utilizing the modalities of social casework, psychotherapy, and psycho-educational interventions.
The FATM completes psychosocial assessments in accordance with Air Force Family Advocacy Policies and Standards.
The FATM assesses for safety and continuously assist families with safety planning.
The FATM evaluates the effectiveness of the services provided.
Requirements
Education and Experience/Qualifications:
Master's degree from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited school.
Licensed Clinical SocialWorker at the independent level with current, unrestricted State license.
Must possess two years' full-time post-master's degree experience (within the last three years) providing clinical counseling services to adults and children experiencing family violence.
Must have experience as a group therapy facilitator or co-leader.
Must be able to obtain privileges at the Military Treatment Facility (MTF).
Must obtain and maintain Basic Life Support Certification (Course C).
Must have transportation and a valid drivers' license.
Technical Skills:
Must be computer-proficient to work autonomously using Microsoft Office and possess data entry skills needed to create and maintain clinical records.
Specifically, FATMs must utilize Family Advocacy System of Records or Family Advocacy Program Network computer software to document client visits and treatment in compliance with AF FAP standards and accepted professional practice guidelines.
Physical Requirements:
The employee frequently is required to sit, stand; walk; use hands or fingers to handle objects or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, kneel, stoop and crouch.
The employee may lift objects up to 20 pounds.

Work Environment:
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Travel may be required as needed and is primarily local during the business day, although some out of area and overnight travel may be expected and will comply with Joint Travel Regulation (JTR). Majority of travel will be one-night stays. Less frequently, some personnel may be asked to provide services for 2-3 weeks.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, general hours of work are 0730 and 1630, Monday through Friday except for US Holidays, when the Government facility/installation is closed due to local or national emergencies, administrative closings, or similar Government-directed facility/installation closings.

2. Guardianship & Legal Interventions
Initiate and manage adult guardianship proceedings when individuals are deemed incapable of making decisions.

Prepare legal documentation and represent DSS in court proceedings.
3. In-Home Aide and Support Services
Assess client eligibility and level of need for in-home care, personal assistance, or homemaker services.
Develop and monitor care plans to support adults living safely in their own homes.
4. Long-Term Care and Special Assistance
Assess for placement in adult care homes or nursing facilities.
Determine eligibility for Special Assistance (SA) and Medicaid-related services.
Conduct annual or semiannual reassessments and reviews of placement settings.
5. Case Management and Multidisciplinary Collaboration
Coordinate with mental health, public health, housing agencies, and healthcare providers.
Participate in multidisciplinary teams to address complex client needs.
Provide crisis intervention and long-term case planning.
Determine if protective services are necessary and develop service plans to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals.

Job Description: SocialWorker III, Adult & Aging Services
The Adult and Aging Services Unit provides citizens with the social services to support the achievement of goals of self-sufficiency. Further, it is the aim of this unit is to prevent abuse, neglect and exploitation of adults but if necessary, intervene to provide protection. The primary purpose of this position in relation to Adult and Aging Services is as follows: To provide Special Assistance In-Home Services to clients that meet eligibility requirements for the program. To manage a caseload of Adult Protective Services. This shall include completing a thorough evaluation to determine if the disabled adult has been abused, neglected or exploited. The worker will also work towards mobilizing services to assist the adult is needed .To provide At-Risk Case Management Services assist adults who are at-risk or show evidence of abuse, neglect, or exploitation in gaining access to needed medical, social, educational, and other services. To manage a caseload of guardianship cases. This shall include at the minimum a quarterly contact with the ward and his/her caregiver. The socialworker will have conferences with physicians and other professionals to ensure the ward's needs are being met.

Essential Tasks

Experience and Education
Master's degree in social work, psychology, or related Behavioral Health field (from regionally accredited and approved institutions).
Demonstrated working knowledge of brief, evidence-based treatment modalities.
Ability to manage the pace of primary care and work with an interdisciplinary team.
Minimum one-year field experience in primary care setting preferred, but not required.
Must have the following skills, intermediate level computer skills, strong interpersonal skills including the ability to demonstrate empathy, effective communication skills, and analytical skills.

Description of Work

Work involves screening clients who are referred for addictive and/or psychological disorders. Employees use standardized tools to screen clients, conduct intakes and orientations, and complete assessments (social, educational, cultural, psychological, physical, career, and familial histories). Employees provide behavioral intervention therapy related to criminal related behaviors and attitudes for those clients involved with the criminal justice system. Employees may serve as an interface between mental health providers while continuing to provide substance use disorder counseling.
