Collaborates and coordinates with medical staff including, but not limited to, physicians, APC's, medical fellows and residents, and other medical staff. Collects medical information and patient histories. Performs cardiac ultrasound exams in accordance to the department and overseeing accredited body's outlined protocols and procedures. Participates in the training of echocardiographic techniques and procedures. Cleans and disinfects transesophageal probes and other equipment and decontaminates the exam area. Performs quantitative measurements and calculations of the acquired data and provides preliminary reports. Maintains logs of patient data and files reports. Orders and restocks supplies. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Demonstrated potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above. Ability to provide care to the population served. Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development. Ability to assess data regarding the patient's status. Ability to provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual. Demonstrated knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology. Demonstrated effective communication and human relation skills. Qualifications QualificationsRequired Proficiency on all equipment in the lab including GE and Philips ultrasound machines. Proficiency in TTE 2D, 3D and Strain. Successful completion of presentation(s) at Lunch and Learn meeting. Licenses Required Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire. One of the following Current certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer with an Adult Echocardiography (RDCS-AE) specialty through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Current certification as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through the Cardiovascular Credentialing International. * Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department. Qualifications (Preferred) Working Conditions and Physical Demands Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.
