Weigh filled cases and/or pails on a scale. Poke stems into retail maraschino cherry containers. Manually attach lids and/or shrouds to foodservice containers. Assemble packing materials (boxes) for finished goods. The ideal candidate can work in a fast-paced environment and will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate delivery of packages. Responsibilities: Sort packages manually or using automated systems according to size, weight, and destination. Scan and label packages to ensure accurate tracking and delivery information. Load and unload packages from trucks and conveyor belts. Organize sorted packages in designated areas for dispatch. Inspect packages for damages or discrepancies and report them to supervisors. The Sorter is responsible for safely and efficiently processing incoming recyclable materials so that outbound commodities are acceptable for sale to various brokers or mills. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: * Sort and segregate recoverable materials (e.g., aluminum, plastic, glass, paper, etc.) from incoming waste. * Deposit recoverable materials safely and efficiently into appropriate chute. * Assist other sorters on an as-needed basis with heavy or bulky items. * Follow all Company safety policies and procedures, including stopping the conveyor belt in emergency situations. * Inspect incoming loads for unacceptable waste; remove unacceptable items as required. * Communicate with equipment operators regarding incoming loads of special waste or other loads that require special attention. * Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
