Participate in departmental quality assurance and continuing education programs. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Certification: CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) through HSPA or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) through CBSPD preferred. Experience: Minimum 2 year of recent sterile processing experience in a hospital or surgical center preferred. Skills: Knowledge of sterilization techniques, infection control, and surgical instrumentation. Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Dental sterilizer technician is responsible for the sterilization of all dental instruments used in dental procedures, as well as any instruments laid out for possible use. Dental sterilization technician may also set up and break down dental armamentarium from operatories as needed. Work Schedules Available: * Mondays from 1:00pm - 9:30pm, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 8:00am - 5:00pm. * Morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts available. Part-time and full-time as well. Shift Differential: Evening and weekend shifts (4 hours) with direct patient contact include a 10% pay differential in addition to regular salary. Evening differential is paid only for completed 4 hour shifts that begin after 4:00pm. Responsibilities * Organizes trays, instruments and treatment room drawers at all times.Prepares dental units for Dentist, stock units and ensures that units are clean at all times. * Maintaining the instruments and working areas in strict accordance with sterilization/ disinfection protocols. * Sterilize all instruments and headpieces according to OSHA regulations. * Preparing and arranging instruments for the sterilization process. * Wear heavy-duty utility gloves, a face shield and protective coverings when handling contaminated instruments. * Put away and organize dental instruments in operatories for re-use. * Operate sterilization machines (Autoclaves) safely, without risking burns or personal injury. * Ensure that office sterilization procedures are documented and posted at all times. * Break down, clean and set up operatories as needed to assist the dental assistants. * Cross-training in other dental support positions as necessary. * Escort patients to treatment room, seat patients and have proper set-up for procedure ready as needed. * Conduct pre-patient staff meeting in the morning each day before starting shift. * Comply with all OSHA, Dental Board and MCC policies. * Oversee cleanliness of treatment room according to sterilization procedures. * Disinfect treatment rooms according to OSHA regulations. * Do daily hand piece inventory.Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Skills and Abilities: * Intermediate computers use experience, including MS Office/MS Outlook. * Ability to multitask and follow directions in fast paced clinic environment. * Ability to follow directions with high attention to detail. Education and Experience: * High School Diploma. * Infection Control Certificate. * Active BLS Certification. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: * Fulfill immunization and fit for duty regulatory requirements. * May be required to occasionally lift at least 20 - 25lbs. * Prolonged standing, stooping, and reaching. * Onsite position.
