JOB SUMMARY
The Delivery Technician is responsible for delivering durable medical equipment to Apria patients in the home.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Pulls, packs, delivers and picks up medications, supplies and basic equipment.
May instruct patients on basic use of respiratory therapy equipment, durable medical equipment, oxygen equipment, and other equipment/services approved by state licensure limitations.
Loads and unloads durable medical and infusion equipment onto delivery vehicle.
Responds to emergency delivery calls as needed during regular business hours and on an on-call basis.
Completes necessary paperwork including daily delivery logs, pick-up and delivery forms and vehicle maintenance logs. Distributes paperwork to appropriate personnel.
Maintains supply component of patient profiles.
Notify supervisor if any one of the following items is discovered in the patient's home:
a) Physical abuse of any family member
b) Home environment is unsafe for the care ordered, such as unsanitary conditions or insufficient food for children
c) Animals in the home that cause unsanitary conditions
May clean and assist with the repair of equipment.

Primary Responsibilities
Delivery: Completing scheduled and reactive ski/snowboard rental fittings in line with our two primary delivery methods: Traditional - in-accommodation boot fitting and ski teching & Express - No contact drop-off delivery.

This position is responsible for insuring that all surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment are properly maintained, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, distributed, and tracked in a quality/timely manner throughout the hospital. Serves as a resource to sterileprocessing customers, both on Main Campus and in the Region.
Essential Job Functions
* Supports and models behaviors consistent with Billings Clinic's mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations. Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance.
* Decontamination: Identifies and uses appropriate methods as identified by manufacturer's guidelines to sort, disassemble, decontaminate, clean, and disinfect instruments and clinical equipment. Shows proficiency in operating and troubleshooting cleaning equipment.Appropriately handles garbage, soiled linen, and biohazard materials. Maintains safety standards and ongoing departmental competencies and educational requirements.
* Instrument assembly and packaging: Identifies and inspects instruments for cleanliness and functionality.Correctly assembles instruments and packages them appropriately to set standards as it relates to validated sterilization method. Must be familiar with the various packaging materials available for sterilization and must be able to select the appropriate packaging for the item and sterilizationprocess. Must be able to correctly identify a multitude of different instruments and how to properly process them
* Sterilization/High Level Disinfection (HLD): Selects appropriate sterilization or high-level disinfection methods.Identifies and follows correct principles of sterilization/HLD. Properly documents and verifies sterilization loads and biological tests to determine the efficacy of the sterilizationprocess. Must be able to understand the advantages and limitations of each sterilization method andbe able to demonstrate competency in using all equipment used for sterilization and HLD. Correctly identifies when and how to safely use different sterilization/HLD methods available.
* Understands and utilizes established principles and procedures that are required to insure that the sterilizationprocess will be effective, as defined by regulatory agencies. Maintains proficiency in all assigned work areas within SterileProcessing, and maintains cleanliness and order to ensure a safe and effective working environment.
* Identifies new or unfamiliar equipment to determine proper reprocessing procedures, and demonstrates ability to use available resources.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization

Essential Job Functions
* Decontamination: rendering contaminated instruments and medical services safe for handling. Demonstrates consistent utilization of PPE and standard precautions. Demonstrates appropriate handling of instruments and appropriate use of equipment. Disposes of trash and used linens in an appropriate manner.
* Instrument assembly: assembling instrument sets for surgery and specialty trays for use where required. Adheres to appropriate count sheets, instruments checked for function and cleanliness, and count sheets are adjusted as necessary and are signed and dated appropriately. Containers are prepared, labeled and locked. Sets are recorded. Adheres to quality control standards of three (3) errors or less per month.
* Packaging: Responsible for proper wrapping or peel packaging of items for sterilization, utilization of tip protectors as needed, and use of appropriate chemical integrator and tape. Labeling is accurate and legible. Adheres to quality control standards of three (3) or less per month.
* Sterilization: container prep, wrapping, logging, equipment operation, monitoring by charts, grafts, biological and chemical monitor interpretation and required recording. Sterilizer carts are loaded per established standards; inventory is documented, biological monitor use as required. Accurate sterilizer monitoring for parameters. Loads information on stamps, and demonstrates appropriate handling of sterile items.
* Picking Cases: Utilizes the computer for printing surgery schedules and pick sheets. Demonstrates ability to use appropriate size case carts and to follow supply list accurately. Adheres to quality control standards of two (2) or less errors per month.
* Variety of essential tasks: computer use for all surgery cases, preparing surgery case carts from print lists, transporting carts to surgery, retrieval of specialty trays and medical devices from user areas, responding to frequent phone requests, etc.
* Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory system/departmental requirements.
* Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to job performance.
* Participants in process improvement activities and utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve quality and safety.
* Notifies Clinical Coordinator of new or unfamiliar equipment to determine proper cleaning and sterilization procedures.
