What you will be doing As a Service & Delivery Technician III, you will be supporting our retail stores & backstage facilities that are in and around Malvern, PA. Main responsibilities Support standard hardware platforms and systems installed throughout Safeway plants, distribution centers, district offices and retail locations. This position is for Monday thru Friday with a start time from 7a to 11am depending on the needs of the ASC. The candidate must be able to float to Grand View Hospital if needed. The Sterile Processing Technician retrieves, decontaminates, cleans, assembles, processes, sterilizes, stores and distributes medical devices, equipment, procedure trays and supplies used in the care of patients. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Retrieves, sorts and decontaminates used materials, instruments, medical devices and equipment from the nursing units, Operating Room, Emergency Department, Delivery Rooms, Nurseries, Outpatient Departments, etc., according to established procedures. Performs quality checks for cleanliness, sharpness and proper functioning of instruments. Performs high level disinfection (HLD) on items that cannot be sterilized. Assembles and wraps items in correct type of packaging material in preparation for sterilization. Sterilizes wrapped and packaged items by steam or ETO. Prepares case carts for the Operating Room. PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Standing for up to 4 hours per day, up to 2 hours at a time. Walking for up to 4 hours per day, up to 2 hours at a time. Sitting for up to 2 hours per day, 1 hour at a time. Frequently uses fingers and hands for data entry, assembling instrument trays, picking items for case carts and packaging items. Frequently uses upper extremities to lift up to 50 pounds. Hearing ability sufficient to hear above noise level of operating equipment (sterilizers). Must be able to hear alarms and telephone. Seeing as it relates to general vision, near vision, peripheral vision (must be able to detect defects in instruments, such as nicks, burrs, etc.). Frequently pushing and pulling carts weighing up to 200 pounds. EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent required. SPD certification is required within 18 months of hire. The anticipated salary range for this position is $18-22 per hour. The actual compensation offered may vary based on job related factors such as experience, skills, education and location ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Pulls, packs, delivers and picks up medications, supplies and basic equipment. May instruct patients on basic use of respiratory therapy equipment, durable medical equipment, oxygen equipment, and other equipment/services approved by state licensure limitations. Loads and unloads durable medical and infusion equipment onto delivery vehicle. Responds to emergency delivery calls as needed during regular business hours and on an on-call basis. Completes necessary paperwork including daily delivery logs, pick-up and delivery forms and vehicle maintenance logs. Distributes paperwork to appropriate personnel. Maintains supply component of patient profiles. Notify supervisor if any one of the following items is discovered in the patient's home: a) Physical abuse of any family member b) Home environment is unsafe for the care ordered, such as unsanitary conditions or insufficient food for children c) Animals in the home that cause unsanitary conditions May clean and assist with the repair of equipment. Perform routine vehicle maintenance including the checking of gasoline, oil fluids, tire pressure and brakes. Report malfunctions to supervisor. Performs other duties as required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES N/A MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education and/or Experience Education or experience equivalent to a high school diploma is required. At least one year related experience is required. Must be at least 21 years of age or older at the time of hire. Minimum of three years driving history required. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations Successful completion of Apria Healthcare's Driver Training Program. Must meet job-related requirements to comply with D.O.T., F.D.A. and standards of accrediting body. Language Skills English (reading, writing, verbal). The purpose of this position is to support the oral surgery team by ensuring all surgical instruments, equipment, and work areas are properly prepared, sterilized, and maintained to the highest safety and quality standards. This role plays a critical part in maintaining an efficient surgical environment by performing decontamination and sterilization processes, organizing and assembling surgical trays, and upholding OSHA guidelines for personal and workplace safety. The position contributes to exceptional patient care by supporting clinical staff, anticipating surgical needs, and fostering a clean, compliant, and collaborative environment. Essential Functions Perform all decontamination, cleaning, inspection, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols and safety standards. Assemble, organize, and prepare surgical trays and materials to ensure timely availability for procedures. Operate and maintain sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners, and other reprocessing equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines. Monitor sterilization cycles, maintain accurate logs, and document all processing activities for compliance and traceability. Experience: Previous experience in a dental, oral surgery, medical, or sterile processing environment preferred Experience with sterilization processes, including cleaning, decontamination, packaging, and autoclave operation, strongly preferred. Familiarity with OSHA, infection control, and universal precaution protocols in a clinical setting. Experience working with surgical instruments, including identification, inspection, and proper assembly of instrument trays. Hands-on experience using sterilization and cleaning equipment, such as autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and steam sterilizers. Experience working in a fast-paced clinical or surgical environment, demonstrating the ability to prioritize and multitask. Customer service or patient-facing experience in a healthcare setting is helpful but not required.
