Practical experience in a well-run and contemporary practice can be a valuable component of your veterinary education, preparing you to deliver better care after graduation. Our program is dedicated to contributing to your practice-readiness and to help you hit the ground running after graduation. Our program structure: Our externships are flexible-they can range from two to eight weeks during the year, according to your college curriculum - but are typically two or three weeks in length. Our externship rotations are designed to allow students, under veterinary supervision, to practice the problem-solving, technical and communication skills that they have acquired during their clinical preparation. Shift: Tuesday - Saturday Key Responsibilities: Provide individual therapy, group therapy, and psychoeducation sessions to clients. Carry and manage a clinical caseload, maintaining a balance of individual and group services. Conduct comprehensive assessments, treatment planning, and ongoing reviews to support client progress. Facilitate evidence-based groups addressing mental health, substance use, relapse prevention, and coping strategies. Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in accordance with state and organizational standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment teams, including medical, psychiatric, and support staff, to ensure integrated care. Support clients in developing aftercare and discharge plans that promote sustained recovery. Uphold ethical standards of care and confidentiality in line with licensing board and organizational policies. Qualifications: Must have a MS in mental health counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy. Minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals diagnosed with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Demonstrated experience facilitating groups and providing individual counseling. Strong skills in clinical documentation, assessment, and treatment planning. Ability to manage and prioritize a caseload within a fast-paced inpatient setting. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
