Key Responsibilities:
This nursing leader collaborates with senior leadership on planning, organizing and overseeing daily clinical and administrative operations of BCH's Behavioral Response Team.
Prepares staff schedules, requests and allocates resources and facilitates coordination of care/services to meet patient care and operations requirements.
In collaboration with the Nurse Director for Behavioral Response Team and other interdisciplinary leaders develops, recommends and implements internal standards, policies and procedures to improve quality and cost-effectiveness of patient care.
Closely collaborates with the clinical coordinator(s) of inpatient psychiatry unit as needed
Selects, supervises and evaluates nursing and clinical support personnel and develops and provides staff education/development programs.
Supports the process by which patients with behavioral health needs are cared for in non-psychiatric areas, inpatient and outpatient.
Leads and participates in unit quality initiatives, hospital, departmental and multidisciplinary programs, committees and special projects.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
A Bachelor's degree in nursing required, Master's degree in Psychiatric Nursing preferred.
Experience
4 + years of Inpatient Psychiatric experience, or combination pediatric and psychiatric experience required.
Managerial/supervisory experience, preferred.
The analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts and in-depth, cross-functional experienced-based knowledge.
Strong communication skills in order to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions, or well-developed writing skills.
License
Current Massachusetts license as a Registered Nurse (RN)
The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Job Details:
Properly utilizes the nursing process in caring for patients by maintaining relevant, accurate and current patient records as evidenced by Nursing PI activities.
Provides documentation of assessment of the patient throughout the Hospital admission including physical, psychological, social dimensions and discharge plans. Summarizes assessment data and initiate plan of care with communication of pertinent data to allied patient care providers as evidenced by Nursing PI activities.
Understands, assumes, and demonstrates proficiency in the role of charge nurse.
Demonstrates proficiency in Computerized Nursing Informatics (information systems).
Assumes role of resource person regarding patient care, orientation and teaching staff.
Participates in identification of the aspects of care for the patient, indicators used to monitor the quality and appropriateness of care, and the evaluation of that care. Adheres to safety, blood/body fluid policies and procedures.
Assesses personal learning development needs. Maintains documentation of current and ongoing professional development activities. Regularly up-dates knowledge of techniques and regulations appropriate to the age of the patient served. Shows a willingness to participate on Nursing Committees.
Represents hospital in the community and within the hospital by maintaining confidentiality regarding patients and hospital matters and by presenting the hospital in a manner that will best market the services provided.
Performs other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested his/her immediate supervisor.
Qualifications:
Registered Nurse in MA
Med/Surg experience in an acute care facility within the last (2) two years
(BLS) - Current Basic Life Support certification
