The goal is to address substance use and associated issues like academic problems or mental health concerns through a comprehensive, family-centered approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individual, group, and family counseling, conducts assessments, treatment planning and discharge planning.
Document treatment in agency's Electronic Health Record and in Cyber.
Identify/create, collaborate, and implement community-based prevention education (such as, but not limited to, Life Skills, psychoeducation groups, educational materials, participation in community).
Provides culturally competent service delivery.
Upholds ethical standards in accordance with the Social Work Code of Ethics.
Effectively engages all client populations and provides culturally competent service delivery.
Provides appropriate intervention strategies and adjusts services accordingly.
Requirements:
Only counselors possessing the appropriate qualifications may provide
assessment and diagnosis of co-occurring addiction and mental illness. All services delivered to co-occurring clients must be supervised by staff whose credentials are equivalent to the director of substanceabuse counseling to include; LCADC/CADC who also hold a license to provide mental health services either independently as an LPC or LCSW or who as an LSW or LAC under the direct clinical supervision of a LCSW or LPC with qualifying supervisory credentials.
Prior professional experience in providing evidence-based treatment services.
Previous supervisor experience preferred.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Must be able to exercise independent thinking and good judgment under all circumstances.
Must be able to analyze work, set goals, develop plans and utilize time effectively and efficiently.
Must be sensitive, flexible and responsive to gender, race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, religion, age, sexual orientation or any other special needs as reflected in the ability to communicate with staff and/or clients.

Job Overview
The Family Counselor provides short-term, intensive, in-home counseling to families, offering a minimum of five hours of weekly face-to-face support per family. This role focuses on teaching and modeling effective parenting skills, strengthening parent-child relationships, and connecting families to essential services and community resources. The counselor collaborates closely with DCP&P and other service providers to ensure comprehensive family support. Additional responsibilities include setting goals, developing action plans, and managing time effectively to achieve positive outcomes for families.
Program Info
Family Preservation Services (FPS) is an in-home program intended to assist the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P) in meeting the State's obligation to preserve the sanctity of the family and prevent the placement of children outside the home by strengthening families through the application of intensive family preservation services. The FPS program is mandated to provide services to families whose children are at imminent risk of placement, or whose children are being prepared for reunification. The FPS program works to ensure the safety of all family members, prevent the out-of-home placement of children considered to be at imminent risk of removal from their home, improve family functioning, reduce the recurrence of maltreatment, help families utilize community resources more effectively, and assist families with the process of reunification where separation or removal has already occurred.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide short-term, intensive, in-home counseling to 2 families at a time, each receiving a minimum of 5 hours of weekly face-to-face contact.
• Teach, coach and model parenting skills and effective parent-child interactions and advocate and link families to concrete services and supports.
• Work collaboratively with DCP&P and community service providers
• Analyzes work, set goals, develop plans and utilize time effectively and efficiently
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in counseling or a related field with 1.5 years professional experience
• Strong engaging, communication and collaboration skills and must demonstrate initiative, reliability and the ability to work well independently
• Must have a valid driver's license and insured vehicle
Additional Information
• Base Rate: $20.19
• Sign-on Bonus: $750
• Bilingual rate: An additional $1.50 added to the base rate if Spanish proficient
