As the External Manufacturing Manager, you serve as the primary liaison between Trü Frü and its contract manufacturing partners, working cross-functionally to ensure operational excellence, supply continuity, and cost competitiveness. You lead supplier performance, sustainability, and value leadership initiatives while supporting innovation, new product launches, and ongoing productivity improvements. With ownership of manufacturing budgets and supply agreements, you help build a resilient, high-performing external manufacturing network aligned with Trü Frü's quality, service, and growth objectives.
What you will do
Serve as the primary liaison between Trü Frü and contract manufacturing partners, aligning priorities across Quality, R&D, Marketing, Product Supply, Finance, and Manufacturing.
Develop and execute strategies to build a resilient, responsive external manufacturing network, balancing service, cost, inventory, and risk mitigation.
Own operational performance of contract manufacturers, ensuring adherence to quality standards, food safety requirements, service levels, and contractual obligations.
Lead supplier performance management, including reviews of quality, yield, reliability, and service, and drive corrective actions as needed.
Drive cost competitiveness and efficiency improvements through waste reduction, yield optimization, throughput gains, and value leadership initiatives.
Manage manufacturing P&L ownership, including budget accountability, cost control, and financial performance of external manufacturing.
Oversee execution of supply agreements, including volume commitments, material usage, and cost recovery mechanisms.
Partner with Procurement and Finance to track, manage, and optimize spend across contract manufacturing and co-packing services.
Lead sustainability initiatives at manufacturing sites in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
Support new product introductions by ensuring operational readiness and launch execution across co-manufacturers.
Manage operational aspects of innovation, renovation, and productivity projects, acting as project manager for key co-manufacturing initiatives.
Partner with Quality to continuously improve food safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
Identify operational, supply, and financial risks and implement mitigation plans to ensure continuity and performance.
Ensure compliance with agreed ways of working, including Standards of Work (SOWs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Job Description
The Production/Operations Manager would report directly to the Plant Manager. Coordinates activities concerned with production of company products. Responsible for helping coordinate the scheduling, fabrication, and shipment of all orders within the fabrication facility working in conjunction with safety, quality, purchasing, transportation, and production control. Ensure that the facility's safety, quality, production, and cost objectives are met by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervision.
Responsibilities:
Assure the safety of all employees and ensure that safe working conditions exist in all areas while implementing continuous improvement plans to eliminate all work-related incidents.
Confer with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, policies and procedures.
Assure all standards are met and ensure compliance with all engineering specifications and certification agencies.
Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations, customer service and cost factors.
Control inventory, scrap, and material utilization.
Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment.
Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of non-conformity with product specifications, operating and/or production problems using six-sigma, root cause analysis and similar tools.
Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
Work with production control supervisor to revise production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure or operating systems.
Consults with maintenance personnel relative to modifications of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
Assist and mentor the development of those employees identified as possible candidates for future advancement through the use of training programs, educational opportunities and mentoring to better qualify them for current and future positions within the company.
Confer with management to uphold company policies, maintain superior employee relations and attain companywide goals.
Compile, store and retrieve production data.
Oversee plant to ensure a clean and orderly condition.
Perform and direct special projects as assigned.
Supervise, monitor, and manage the work of others to ensure tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, and on time.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
5+ years of production management experience, managing 30+ associates.
Mechanical background is a plus.
Knowledge of MBCI/ABC products and their related manufacturing processes would be desirable.
Experience in MS Office, ERP.
Ability to forecast production requirements and organize workload into a schedule.
Solid knowledge of how manufacturing, customer service and physical distribution processes and functions interrelate.
Demonstrate leadership in management, staff development and training with analytical and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrate the ability to meet objectives within time-sensitive deadlines with outstanding follow-through, time management and planning skills.
Excellent communications with strong customer service orientation.
Financial analysis and forecasting experience is preferred.
Bilingual skills a plus (Spanish).
Ability to effectively manage a multicultural workforce.
Proven record of implementing and utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles.
Working knowledge of Six Sigma and Quality Management Systems.
Position requires minimal travel (less than 10%).
