Segregates hazardous waste and disposes of it correctly. May assist in the reprocessing of surgical instrumentation, if qualified to do so. Cleans operating room per facility requirements. Maintains physician preference cards as up to date. Accurately and promptly completes unusual occurrence reporting when necessary. Participates in the evaluation of new supplies and equipment and instrumentation. Accepts and understands the role of the CST in emergency situations. Summit's hiring range for this position is $32.60 to $40.75 per hour. May include providing basic animal care and first or second scrub duties on sterile procedures as needed. -Perform pre-purchase physical and vaccination history examination and communicate the suitability of each shipment of animals to DVM and animal vendor. -May assist with/conduct necropsies under the direction of the attending DVM/pathologist, by properly labeling and documenting specimens, photographing gross pathology, coordinating histopathologic exams, and logging histopathologic reports immediately upon completion of necropsy. -May assist in pathology assessments by preparing, sending and receiving specimens to/from contract labs according to GLP guidelines. -May assist in compiling SOPs/DOPs related to pathology services and responding and implementing responses to audit observations. Other duties * Prefabricated splint application (ace wraps, cam boots, knee immobilizers, slings, etc) * Wound irrigation and prep, suture tray set up * Ensure room safety and safety watch * Assist physician with procedures (suturing, central line, chest tube, etc) * Perform EKG's and place patient on cardiac monitor * Maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards * Prepare, coordinate, and arrange patient and chart as needed for admissions/transfers/OR 6. Miscellaneous tasks as assigned * Direct and occasionally escort patient/family to appropriate area with facility * Registers patients in database Requirements Education & Licensure: * Current WI Nurse Aide Registry or level of EMT certification to include EMT-B or EMT-I (on either National Registry or State of Wisconsin) required * BLS certification required upon hire * High school diploma or equivalent required Experience: * At least one year of experience in ERT, EMT, EDT or CNA position in a hospital or Emergency Services preferred * Previous customer service experience including in-person and telephone interactions preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: * Excellent communication and listening skills * Excellent customer service skills * Demonstrated ability to work independently with little direction and manage multiple demands and priorities * Ability to balance the needs of visitors, patients and colleagues * Demonstrated excellent customer service * Ability to respond patiently and effectively to patients, visitors and hospital staff * Ability to maintain effective working relationships in a stressful environment with patients, visitors and hospital staff Physical Requirements: * Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. * Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching * Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
