We're seeking a SwimInstructor to join our team! As our new SwimInstructor you will:
Teach various levels and age groups in accordance with the sites instructional guidelines
Plan lessons, select appropriate drills, and evaluate the student's progress
Present proper demonstrations and explain skills, analyze and correct performance, minimize fear, and use appropriate teaching devices
Maintain a safe and positive teaching environment
Attend all in-service trainings
Maintain accurate records and prepare course completion certificates
Perform all swimming strokes and skills taught in all levels
Effectively communicate each student's progress either to the student directly, or to the student's parents where appropriate
Project and promote a professional image
Explain and enforce facility regulations, policies, and procedures to patrons
Other tasks as assigned
The Ideal Candidate will have:
Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications or the ability to obtain the certification at the time of hire
Current Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification or the ability to obtain the certification at the time of hire
Prior experience lifeguarding or teaching swim lessons highly preferred
Per pay transparency requirements, the compensation for this position ranges from $15.00/hour to $20.00/hour. Minimum rates may vary based on local wage laws. What You'll Do
Teach 1-4 students per class using hands-on instruction (following the FOSS Swim Path curriculum) and promote swimmer safety.
Ensure a safe, engaging, and educational experience for students, similar to working in daycare or childcare settings.
Engage with parents/guardians on swimmer progress.

Qualifications
Must be 18+ years old
Comfortable working in a 91-degree, chlorinated indoor pool
Able to lift/hold up to 50 lbs.

Working Conditions
Ability to work in water and go underwater to demonstrate the physical movements necessary to teach the FOSS Swim Path Curriculum.
Work in warm, humid indoor pool environment with water temperatures up to 91 degrees.

* Provide individualized, behind-the-wheel instruction to students in accordance with curriculum requirements and program standards.
* Teach vehicle control skills, defensive driving techniques, hazard awareness, and safe decision-making practices.
* Maintain a calm and supportive learning environment while ensuring student and public safety at all times.
* Communicate progress and areas for improvement to students and families when appropriate.
* Maintain required driving logs, evaluation forms, and any additional documentation.
* Ensure the instructional vehicle is clean, fueled, and safe for use; report any maintenance needs promptly.
* Demonstrate and model safe driving behaviors and professionalism at all times.
* Stay updated on state regulations and program expectations related to driver training.
Prerequisites / Qualifications
* Must hold a valid Minnesota driver's license with a clean driving record.
* Minnesota Behind-the-Wheel Instructor Teaching Endorsement (PELSB)
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work patiently with teenagers and new drivers.
* Ability to remain attentive, calm, and safety-focused in varying traffic conditions.
* Prior experience working with youth or in an instructional role preferred, but not required.
* Must pass background check requirements.

Contract: Part Time
Schedule: Schedule varies, Behind the Wheel Sessions are held after school and/or evenings and weekends, flexible shifts of 2-6 hours or longer.
Salary & Benefits
This position is not covered by our Master Certified Contract but is addressed in our Non-Classified Wage Scale.
Starting Rate: $36.00 per hour
Benefits: No benefit eligibilty, other than Earned Safe and Sick Time (ESST) as provided by law.
