Key Responsibilities
General Accounting & Financial Operations
Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger
Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including cash, investments, receivables, payables, and deferred revenue
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
Support preparation of internal financial statements and management reports
Higher Education & Fund Accounting
Apply nonprofit and higher education accounting standards (FASB) including fund accounting principles
Track and reconcile restricted and unrestricted funds, grants, and designated accounts
Assist with accounting for scholarships, tuition revenue, discounts, and auxiliary operations (housing, dining, athletics, etc.)
Compliance, Audit & Reporting
Assist with annual financial audit and preparation of supporting schedules
Support compliance with federal and state regulations, including financial aid and grant reporting as needed
Maintain documentation and internal controls in accordance with best practices
Budgeting & Analysis Support
Assist with budget preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis
Support departmental budget managers with financial data and account reconciliations
Process Improvement & Systems
Support continuous improvement of accounting processes, controls, and documentation
Maintain data integrity within the institution's financial systems and ERP
Participate in system upgrades, reporting enhancements, and automation initiatives
Collaboration & Service
Serve as a resource to campus departments on financial procedures and account management

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
2+ years of accounting experience (higher education or nonprofit preferred)

To be successful in this role, you should have solid organizational skills and experience with AR, AP, journal entries, reconciliations, general ledger, month end close, etc. This candidate should be able to use critical thinking to conceptualize solutions to accounting issues based on prior accounting knowledge and experience. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, work well as part of a team, be a self-starter, and have a passion for their work.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Verify Accounts Payable invoices, code, enter, assign job cost, and prepare payments
Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger accounts with balance analysis
Accounts Receivable data entry, job cost, and reconciliation
Prepare Financial Statements and review them for accuracy
Reconcile, code and pay credit card reimbursements
Manage Fixed Asset schedule; Post depreciation using IRS and GAAP methods
Prepare and post General Ledger entries; prepare amortization schedules to allocate liability payments
Calculate and post accrued liabilities and expense current cost
Process multi-state payroll to include job costing and preparation and import of IIF file
Responsibilities include adherence to the monthly and quarterly close process and timeline
This position will require a strong business partnership, collaboration, and process improvement skills while interacting with the teams in manufacturing, operations and site personnel
Answer employees' questions and provide requested information
Responsible for providing and verifying product costs in support of all cost-based pricing contracts
Work with Accounting Management to drive the development of procedures and controls that ensure meaningful and reliable product costs and accurate inventories
Recommending changes to the company's processes and policies to reduce cost and maximize profit
Identify potential issues and coordinate issue resolution/problem solving with other functional teams

Partner with operations team to review non-standard variances and gross margin analysis
Budget/Forecast Planning

Qualifications:
