    Job Description Under the direction of the Vice President of Finance, the Construction Project Accountant supports the financial and contractual success of construction projects by managing job cost accounting, contract workflows, billing, compliance, and documentation. This position will also partner with operations to deliver timely and accurate financial forecasts and will have an understanding of the full accounting construction cycle. This role requires strong proficiency with Sage 300 Construction & Real Estate, and the ability to oversee project documentation and workflows in Procore. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable collaborating with both field and office teams. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Project Accounting (Sage 300 CRE) Setup and maintain project budgets, cost codes, commitments, and forecasts in Sage 300 CRE. Prepare and distribute monthly job cost reports and analyze variances with project managers. Support Project Managers with updated information, review, and corrections of their monthly Projection of Profit and Loss. Track subcontractor and vendor costs, committed costs, and cost-to-complete. Support month-end close with accruals, reconciliations, and detailed project financial documentation. Monitor retention, project cash flow, and overall financial performance for assigned projects. Identify patterns in these metrics for consideration by upper management. Billing & Revenue Management Confirm accuracy of schedules of values, approved change orders, and billing rates. Enter monthly client billings in Sage, including AIA G702/G703 and cost-plus/T&M invoices provided by the Project Managers. Ensure timely submission and timely collection of project invoices with the Project Managers. Coordinate with project teams to confirm percent-complete billing and projected revenue. Subcontractor Compliance (my COI + Procore) Set up subcontractor insurance tracking using my COI, aligning with owner contract requirements. Set up and maintain vendor data in multiple platforms (ie. Sage, my COI, Procore, etc.) Maintain subcontractor compliance dashboards and status reports. Vendor & Subcontractor Payables Review vendor invoices and subcontractor pay applications for accuracy and proper coding. Verify vendor requirements for payment. Assist in providing guidance and oversight of payroll and accounts payable process. Work with inter-company partners to record and process inter-company billables and payables. Reporting & Compliance Prepare financial, contract status, compliance, and job cost reports for management. Support internal and external audits with detailed project documentation. Maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to company policies. Assist the Vice President of Finance in maintaining the Companies journals, ledgers and accounts by conducting periodic reconciliations to assure accuracy, conformance with general accepted accounting principles and compliance with established company processes and procedures. Assists with, but not limited to, the timely preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements, annual budget, external audits, tax filings (ie 1099s), tracking of fixed assets, monthly reconciliations, recording required journal entries and ad-hoc reporting and analysis that may be requested by various departments or Corporate. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Prepare additional reports and assignments as requested by Vice President of Finance. Support operations teams with additional reports on job performance. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or related field (preferred). 3-7 years of experience in construction accounting or contract administration. Hands-on experience with Sage 300 CRE (required) and Procore (strongly preferred). Some experience with system migration/implementation (preferred). Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of construction accounting, contract structures, and AIA billing. Skilled in reading contracts, identifying risks, and ensuring compliance.
