All Teaching Assistants are to be under direct and assigned supervision of a regular member of the faculty and should regularly report on the conduct and performance of their duties to the supervising faculty. Instruction of teaching assistants shall be provided by the administrative unit, school or college employing them to prepare teaching assistants to carry out their assigned duties.
Students in Option III Master's Programs do not qualify.
Purpose
As the School of Civic Leadership is an interdisciplinary unit, it seeks Teaching Assistants across a variety of academic fields, which include but are not limited to: Government/Political Science, History, Economics, Business, Statistics, Philosophy, and related fields.

Academic Activities:
Make fun and engaging lesson plans based on the school day curriculum to improve students' grades. Teachers will periodically lead small group tutorials in reading, writing, and math to focus on students who may be falling behind.
Homework Help:
Create a quiet, productive environment for students to complete homework and independent reading. Assist students as needed with academics and any technological challenges that may arise.
Teacher Activities:
Ratios vary. Design lesson plans based on student interest and school day needs. Examples include: Mario-themed math, reading outside, service learning pro, and STEM activities. Teachers, on their own, may be responsible for leading a group of no more than 20 students. The teacher may be assisted by another staff member as well. This will allow the teacher to support more students with stronger small group interactions.

Interact daily with students, Enrichment counselors, parents, co-workers, and supervisors in a professional and friendly manner.
Participate in mandatory staff meetings and full-day training as required.
Spend up to 2 additional hours per week preparing lesson plans and materials as required.

This role is intended to provide supervision and guidance during clinical rotations in support of the teaching/learning provided in the classroom by nursing program faculty. The collaboration between the CTA and faculty enables a faculty-to-student ratio of 1:15 in accordance with Texas Board of Nursing guidelines. .
