POSITION OVERVIEW
The individual in this role will be exceptionally motivated, energetic, and are customer-focused and eager to grow. The ideal candidate for this position will have an aptitude for computer hardware and technology in general. Strong troubleshooting skills are a must in this position. The successful candidate will be a hard worker who has a high attention to detail while demonstrating outstanding communication skills. This role requires nationwide travel up to 70% of the time.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Installs computer and hardware components on large commercial trucks.
Troubleshoots and resolve installation issues in a timely and professional manner.
Provides assistance to the technical support team.
Assists in preparation of customer shipments, including light in-house component assembly, hardware configuration, unit burn-in, data logging, and packing/shipping.
Processes return material authorizations (RMAs).
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of basic tools, principles, and procedures required for installing computer systems in heavy-duty vehicles is preferred.
Solid track record in high-quality electronics installations, including direct customer contact.
A high degree of personal motivation, initiative, and flexibility.
Experience with troubleshooting computer hardware and software.
Proven ability to work well with a team.
Experience working and communicating effectively with many different stakeholders, including peers, other departments, and external customers.

Key Responsibilities:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities include monitoring the operation and responding to issues on systems such as cooling towers, chillers, fab tool cooling water systems, pumps, boilers, air compressors, electrical, Fire Life Safety, air handlers, HVAC, solvent/acid pollution abatement, chemical distribution and waste management. Assure we are in compliance with regulations at all times.
Must use safe work practices, demonstrate good judgment in troubleshooting, and good communication skills while following escalation protocol.
Has understanding in responding to facilities system alarms in at least one trade.
Complete assigned PMs demonstrating understanding of the job while applying knowledge and trade skills to complete a wide range of tasks within a specific area of responsibility.
Conduct plant rounds per procedure, finding and resolving issues as observed. Change chemical drums, drive forklift, handle wastes generated by the fab, and clean abatement units.
Work on moderately difficult assignments requiring judgment in resolving issues and make recommendations for improvements. Normally receives little instruction on daily work, general instructions on newly introduced assignments.
Tasks include consistently using on-line pass down, responding to facility service requests and 6S.
Supporting Emergency Response Team is required. Prior first response training is desirable.
Must be willing to sometimes work different shifts to help with coverage, practice good time management, and exhibit strong motivation.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
Able to stand and walk for extended time periods during a 12 hour shift.
Essential daily tasks require maintaining physical condition necessary for such functions as lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, performing plant rounds, bending, squatting, kneeling and associated movements common to performing maintenance on equipment etc.
The successful candidate will need to pass a physical and be respirator qualified.
Facility technician positions require occasional phone support, call-in, call back, and standby in accordance with Facility department escalation plan and HR policies.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A specialized trade skill related to facilities and 4-6 years of experience operating and maintaining a semiconductor or large industrial plant is required. Depending on the Trade Skill, a License may be required.
The ability to read and understand SDSs, and follow environmental and safety regulations as they pertain to designated tasks is required. Chemical handling experience is preferred.
Prior experience in the semiconductor industry is preferred.
Must have basic computer skills such as MS Word, Excel, and e-mail.

Microchip has an opportunity for a Technician IV-Facilities (HVAC) in the Site Services department at Fab 4 in Gresham, Oregon on the back day compressed work week shift (6:00 AM - 6:15 PM, Thu, Fri, Sat, every other Wed). This position will support semiconductor manufacturing at Fab 4.
Essential Functions
Ensure operation of facilities HVAC and scrubber systems, buildings and equipment within cleanroom quality parameters and environmental discharge permit limitations.
Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of HVAC systems.
Respond to site HVAC system alarms.
Provide support with HVAC configuration and maintenance and maintain associated written documents and reports.
Provide timely response and follow-up to all correspondence, maintaining open lines of communication with team members, engineering and management.
Assist supervisors in identifying training requirements and safety procedures in assigned areas.

Hands-On experience with one or more of the following systems: HVAC, Ultrapure Water, Gas Distribution, Chemical Distribution, Waste Treatment, electrical, Life Safety Systems.
Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools.
Able to move and lift up to 50LB.
Basic knowledge of handling chemicals and the ability to understand SDS.
Experience with a computer-based software and building control systems preferred.
Communicate effectively both orally and writing.
Maintain detailed and accurate reports.
Must be self-motivated and customer service oriented.
Establish and maintain a good working relationship with contractors.
Comply with all safety procedures and requirements.

Starting pay depends on qualifications:
Facilities Technician I - $23.41 to $29.30 per hour
Facilities Technician II - $25.49 to $33.10 per hour
