Job Responsibilities
As a member of a contracted base-level enterprise IT service delivery team, you will handle daily maintenance, troubleshooting, engineering, and installation of copper and fiber optic cabling systems for both secure and unsecure networks.
-Install & Troubleshoot: Configure, install, implement, test, and troubleshoot all high-speed copper (e.g., CAT5e, CAT6) and fiber optic cabling across a large campus in a converged architecture.Outside Plant: Install fiber optic cabling utilizing underground conduit and manhole systems, including working safely in confined spaces.

SUMMARY: The Field Service Technician provides customer service in person and/or by telephone to customers in and around the greater Boston area. Technicians will also help fulfill the needs of the maintenance schedule when needed by performing preventative maintenance on parking access, as well as software and/or hardware. Works with upper-level support to troubleshoot/setup/configure car access systems to include LAN (Local Area Networks). Effectively understands and troubleshoots basic setup of credit card configuration within the PARCS (parking access & revenue control system) network.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform field repairs on parking access system and building access systems, software and/or hardware related
Troubleshoot and correct problems on devices/equipment, down to board level, low voltage
Correct/fixes; minor to complex software issues on parking/access systems
Understand and troubleshoot the entire setup of a SKIDATA network (LAN)
Properly identifies all network devices on a LAN (router, modem, switch etc.)
Can properly use handheld devices like, but not limited to, multi meter, Network tester, toner, etc.
Understand basic relay logic
Works with upper-level support to setup/configure firewall, router, and other network devices
Provides effective customer service, to internal and external customers
Properly identifies when higher level support is needed. Work closely with peers and support team to ensure customer expectations are met
Effectively execute troubleshooting instructions from higher level support
Properly maintain vehicle status and maintenance, as required

QUALIFICATIONS:
This is an experienced position within the Service Department. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
Must be at least 21 years old, with a valid driver's license; have and maintain a driving record clean of any major or numerous violations
Must be able to drive to field / customer locations to perform field work
Working knowledge of Windows Server 2008/2012/2016, SQL, Windows OS 7, 10 and above, and network firewall configurations
Must possess aptitude to learn new technologies
The ability to work independently all while keeping others informed of your processes and progress via multiple avenues - including ERP System, email, and/or phone

Must be able to complete SKIDATA technical certified training courses - within 24 months; or has completed required certified courses in the technical career track. Specific product/equipment and software training supplied by SKIDATA

Your activities

This position will require independent operation as well as collaboration with customers on-site, focusing on ISP, OSP, and aerial fiber builds. Although the position is based out of our Nashua, NH office, you will primarily be traveling throughout the New England area during the workweek. What Will You Do
A solid understanding of multiple OSP/ISP splice enclosure by various manufacturers.
Have undergone additional training or immersion into one or more specific customers' needs and demonstrate responsibility for those needs
Be able to demonstrate advanced cable prep/single and mass fusion splicing and termination abilities.
Excellent fiber optic test and troubleshooting abilities to include fiber characterization, iOLM and advanced documentation and deliverable responsibilities.
Demonstrate a strong ability to work with others and train more junior technicians and basic crew/project management abilities and responsibilities
Have a basic understanding of and abilities to negotiate ARC/GIS, Telvent and Trimble software
Ability to understand that to the nature of the job, travel, night, weekend, and holiday work, to include on-call responsibilities will be a requirement.
What You Will Need
5+ years experience working as a fiber optic splice technician
Applicant must have completed entry level safety training and demonstrate safe practices.
Show up for work daily and on time
Must possess the ability to perceive difference in colors.
Must possess and continue to possess a valid driver's license in good standing
Experienced with basic computer functions, especially Excel and the Internet and have the ability to learn new programs
Ability to make independent judgment and perform repetitive tasks
Regular contact with co-workers and customers
Within 90 days of start date, take and pass OSHA-10 Certification
Must be able to take and pass, and continue to pass a DOT Physical, drug screen and background check
Travel expected through the week with going into the office in Nashua NH to pick up stock or whatever would be needed for the week
Overtime should be expected
Applicant must be at least a high school graduate or equivalent.
Work Environment
Repeated and frequent ability to lift, from floor to above head 25 lbs continuously.
Ability to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach and utilize both hands and feet in an aerial and underground capacity.
Environmental Conditions exposure is heat, cold, dust, wet, vibration and very loud noise.
Requires the ability to sit for extended periods, stand, bend, walk, communicate via telephone, computer and/or face-to-face contact, vision to monitor, and use basic office equipment such as a personal computer, copier and fax machines regularly during the course of work.
Work is performed in and out of an office environment.
