    Details Information Working Title English as a Second Language Instructor Position Status Part Time Department Transitional Learning Center General Summary The Transitional Learning Center (TLC) at Odessa College is seeking an experienced English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor to join us in our mission to increase English literacy, as well as college and career readiness, within the Permian Basin. The ESL instructor will work with the TLC staff to create, organize, and instruct courses utilizing the fundamentals of language acquisition alongside recognized teaching methods. The college is hiring for the Odessa Main Campus and following extension areas: Andrews, Kermit, Pecos and Monahans. Specific Position Duties The ESL instructor will have the experience and knowledge to perform the following responsibilities: * Develop course syllabi and lesson plans * Prepare classroom and course materials * Prepare students for oral and written assessments * Perform evaluations and assessments of students * Utilize the Burlington English online learning software as a part of the ESL curriculum * Utilize the Ventures textbooks and workbooks as a part of the ESL curriculum * Create a supportive and encouraging classroom environment * Maintain records of student attendance * Observe and be observed by other staff and faculty members with a goal of increasing educational effectiveness * Collaborate with educational staff to provide a positive learning experience for all students * Build academically-centered relationships with students in order to increase their English proficiency and confidence * Walk alongside students in creation and implementation of student focused career and/or academic plans * Take part in registration, orientation, and graduation when needed * Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree * Organization and communication skills. * Flexible teaching schedule to meet student needs.
