Job Description Truck Driver Public Works Department FLSA: Non-ExemptMinimum Pay: $17.50 per hour This position operates assigned trucks and other equipment in support of public works construction and maintenance projects. MAJOR DUTIES Operates a tandem dump truck to haul gravel, dirt, asphalt, and other materials to and from work sites. Operates a front-end loader to load trucks as needed. Operates a lowboy to move equipment to and from work sites. Performs laboring duties as needed. Flags traffic at work sites. Inspects trucks and equipment prior to operation; checks fluid levels, tires, lights, etc.; lubricates and washes truck. Operates a variety of hand and power tools. ADDITIONAL DUTIES Performs other work as required or when directed by administration. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application. COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK The work consists of related truck and equipment operation duties. Inclement weather and heavy traffic contribute to the complexity of the position. The purpose of this position is to operate assigned trucks and equipment in support of a variety of department operations.
