Provides tutoring assistance to freshmen students enrolled in Algebra I under the guidance of high school math teachers to improve students' math proficiency. Support student comprehension during core instructional time, inside of the classroom. Tutors will work with students one-on-one as well as in small groups as directed by the math teacher. Tutors will meet with math teachers to determine the most successful path for providing support to students in the Algebra I classrooms. (Note: Successful completion of Algebra I in high school is critical to students staying on track to graduate on time. Failing this core class in the 9th grade reduces the amount of time students have to take additional math classes required for graduation and can put students behind in terms of credit accumulation. Essential Functions
Facilitate writing as a guide and coach to assist the student to become a successful, independent writer.
Facilitate an increase and enhancement in student mastery of writing.
Integrate effective strategies to maximize the student's potential for improved writing and academic progress.
Mentor and assist students and peer writing tutors as needed.
Maintain records, as required; assist in maintaining the professional appearance of the Writing Center area, including clean up when necessary.
Participate in all training sessions, professional development, and meetings.
Administrative responsibilities and leadership duties as requested by supervisor.
Provides outstanding customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our students, faculty, & staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.
