Private School Academic Tutor - Title I Department: Community and Student Affairs Unit: No Benefits Wage: Determined by the district and based on education/experience Direct Supervisor: Principal JOB SUMMARY The academic tutor in the Private Schools is responsible for assisting scholars in the core academics. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Essential functions under the Americans with Disabilities Act may include any of the following duties, knowledge, and skills. QUALIFICATIONS Required Education and Experience: * Must have * A) completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (at least 60 credits); or * B) obtained an associate's or higher degree; or * C) achieved a passing score on an MDE approved assessment. * Must provide an official transcript or a Work Keys certificate before final recommendation. * Current teacher certification is required for the in-school tutors. * Experience working with computers required * Some positions may require strong technology experience (SMART Board, Document Camera, Read Naturally software, LCD projector), as well as a passion and interest in working with scholars who are struggling with reading and math, primarily in grades 3-8. Preferred Qualifications: * Prefer previous experience working with at-risk Title I scholars.
