Job DescriptionBenefits: part time Flexible schedule Opportunity for advancement Currently seeking experienced tutors for In-home tutoring in Pearland and Friendswood areas We are currently seeking part-time instructors, teachers and tutors who can teach Math and Reading to elementary and middle school grade levels. Our students are in Manvel, Rosharon, Pearland and Friendswood. The ideal candidate for this job is knowledgeable about the TEKS and skilled in teaching local curriculum, study skills, and other content relevant to elementary and middle school grades. Our tutors are: Full-time or part-time Teachers who are actively teaching currently preferably certified teachers, substitute teachers or paraprofessionals Teacher aides and/or paraprofessionals with classroom experience Special Education teachers Retired teachers Substitute Teachers with teaching experience Professionals who are subject matter experts with teaching experience Qualifications: Bachelor's degree/diploma preferred Teacher's certification preferred Understanding local curriculum Willingness to travel up to 30 minutes to student location Minimum of 1 year of experience in teaching and/or tutoring Be able to create personalized tutoring session plans Strong typing, PC, and recording skills Having a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle is a must Advantages: We bring the students to you! Primary Purpose: To assist students in mastery of academic curriculum in a tutorial setting. Education / Certification: * High School Diploma or GED is required. * Bachelor's Degree is preferred * Texas Teaching Certificate is preferred Special Knowledge / Skills: * Knowledge of core academic subject assigned. * General Knowledge of curriculum and instruction. * Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior. * Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience / Other Requirements: * Some experience working with students is preferred. * Fingerprinting is required. * Attend substitute teacher orientation. Major Responsibilities and Duties: * Tutor and work with individual students or groups in assigned subject(s). * Work with classroom teacher and/or campus administration to address areas of weakness as identified from previous STAAR/EOC testing, benchmark classroom exams, and other formative and summative measures. * Maintain an orderly work area. * Keep records of student progress as needed, such as behavior, grades, attendance. * Maintain strict student confidentiality. * Keep supervisor informed of special needs or problems of individual students. * Communicate with teachers regarding students' academic progress and/or needs as per request of supervisor. * Provide a positive, calm, and consistent learning environment for students. * Communicate with students in a positive and encouraging way. * Help keep administrative records and help prepare required reports, including accurate records of time worked (timesheets). * Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy. * Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. * Maintain a professional relationship with campus staff. * Be a positive role model for students. * Support mission of school district.
