Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist
Job Responsibilities:
Perform diagnostic procedures on patients using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structure, providing quality images for interpretation
Set up and adjust all equipment and manually maneuver transducers to perform exams
Implement safety standards and perform appropriate quality control procedures
Perform routine and complex studies and assist in a variety of imaging procedures
Recognize significant structures, artifacts, pathology and equipment limitations
Ensure equipment is properly functioning
Report potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel
Lock/tag out equipment if appropriate
Ensure prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history)
Assist in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department
Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies
Job Qualifications:
BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required
American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted
Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
Sonography Tech specializing in Vascular Sonography credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or from the Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI)

Job Description
Responsible for performing medical history and physical pre-exam (assess vitals), as well as, non-invasive sonography exams and evaluations in accordance with the medical practice protocols and applicable regulatory requirements.
Uses ultrasound equipment to record vascular information, such as blood flow and pressure; cerebral, abdominal and peripheral circulation, and oxygen saturation.
Documents and communicates test findings to the physician(s).
Assists with non-invasive procedures in the office, before or after surgery, or during vascular procedures as needed. General and/or cardiac ultrasound procedures.
Responsibilities
Performs a basic history and physical prior to the patient's non-invasive evaluation, to ensure there is a proper indication to perform any exam.
Performs 2DECHO and Stress Echos
Performs Vascular Studies including but not limited to: Carotid Scans, Venous Scans, Abdominal Scans, Arterial Doppler's, Graft/Stent Scans, Ultrasound Guided Biopsies, Prepares results to review with physicians.
Compares evaluation to previous evaluations as necessary. Interprets the findings of each exam and is able to accurately report the findings in a preliminary report format in a timely manner upon completion of the study. Ensures that all referring providers are notified with findings for all same day emergent add-ons; notifies the referring provider with all emergent findings on all patients
Enters patient information accurately into the demographic screen on each ultrasound machine and in to the reporting software.
Performs incidental office duties as necessary to maintain the completeness of the patient record.
Documents all necessary interactions with referring providers in the patient's permanent medical record.
Acts as a liaison between patients and physicians; explains testing procedures to patient.
Meets the standards of ARDMS continuing medical education requirements. Maintains registered vascular technologist certification (RVT).
Qualifications
At least one year general ultrasound technician experience in a private Clinic or hospital setting.
RCIS Certification
Successfully passed Registry Exam to obtain RCIS credential. Must maintain ongoing education to maintain credential.
Strong background in cardiology, scrub procedures, hemodynamic monitoring therapeutics and diagnostic procedures.
Knowledge of heart anatomy, physiology, and radiographic procedures
Circulating and scrub experience preferred

Under general supervision the Ultrasound Technologist will perform a variety of complex and specialized tasks utilizing ultrasonic high frequency sound waves to detect abnormalities including masses, abscesses, and stones. Proficient and able to perform independently both Diagnostic Sonography and Vascular Sonography procedures. Assist physicians with biopsy procedures, guiding biopsy instrument using sonographic technique. Strives for superior performance by consistently providing a product or service to leadership and staff that is recognized as ultimately contributing to the patient and family experience. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
* Produces high quality images through appropriate sonographic technique, body part positioning and image capture. Adjusts protocols to meet patient needs when appropriate and/or necessary.
* Moves transducer by hand over the specified anatomy, observes sound wave displays to provide a written assessment, and discusses findings with the attending radiologist.
* Acquires complete and appropriate patient history and conveys all pertinent information to radiologist.
* Familiarity with terminology and the procedures performed in all of Diagnostic Imaging. Demonstrates a working knowledge of all front desk and file room procedures.

* Furnish occasional immediate results to appropriate medical personnel derived from ultrasound procedure.
* Perform basic equipment maintenance and quality assurance.
* Provide assistance and guidance to sonography students completing clinical experience in department.
* Assist Radiologists and other physicians in the performance of interventional procedures.
* Perform detailed OB ultrasounds on 8-14 patient per day in a timely manner.
* Present cases to reading physician.
