Communicates potential or existing problems/opportunities to improve quality of care or services. Strives to maintain the dignity of each patient by ensuring the patient is properly covered at all times; during exam and patient transport. Seeks opportunities to assist in other areas during downtime periods and always makes good use of time. Checks often on patients waiting in hallways to ensure that the patient is covered and comfortable (Pain Management). Performs all biopsies with the proper "Time Out" procedure to include marking of body part as well as proper process in labeling specimens. Shows leadership and teamwork in difficult situations and makes appropriate decisions. Transports patients to and from room in accordance with transport processes, to include using Hand Off Form, when necessary. Ensures the safety of patients by following all safety procedures while moving patients from wheelchair to include proper footwear. Performs high quality studies consistently and follows pre-determined standards and procedures for all ultrasound studies. Will scan according to predetermined protocols provided by Radiologists. Willing to provide portable studies for patients when it is in the best interest of the patient as deemed necessary by the patient's nurse or nursing supervisor. Shift: PRN Goal This is a technical position to operate diagnostic ultrasound equipment and perform ultrasound procedures on various anatomical internal organs, peripheral vessels, fluid accumulations, masses and developing fetuses. To report preliminary findings, measurements and diagnoses to the Radiologist. To record scanned ultrasound images and transfer to PACS for interpretation after checking image quality. Singing River Gulfport | Full-Time | Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday 6am-6pm and Thursday, Friday the following week 6am-6pm with rotating call | 15200 Community Road Gulfport, Mississippi, 39503 United States The Ultrasound Technologist-Registered performs diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment in various modes and techniques to locate, evaluate and record pertinent anatomical, pathological and functional data. Operates diagnostic equipment, and prepares the room with the necessary equipment and supplies for the procedures. Secondary duties include clerical duties, receptionist, answering the telephone, scheduling patients, ordering supplies, stocking the department, maintaining filings, and general cleaning. Assists in the collection of data for COI monitors. The Ultrasound Technologist-Registered (Float) will be required to work at all SRHS facilities. Ultrasound Technologist-Registered (Float)/Premium Flex Ultrasound Technologist-Registered: Previous experience as an Ultrasound Tech required. Reports to: Operations Manager-Radiology Supervises: None Physical Demands: Work is moderately active: involves sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and to travel to another facility within the SRHS service area. Work involves exerting a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work involves using many physical motions in performing daily work activities; subject to exposure of body fluids, sputum and tissues, which may carry the hazard of infectious disease. Work involves using repetitive motions: substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and or fingers while operating standard office equipment such as computer keyboard. Work involves being able to perceive the nature of sound at normal speaking levels with or without correction; the ability to make fine discriminations in sound. Work requires close visual and acuity and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus, i.e. shift gaze from viewing a computer monitor to forms/printed material that are closer to compare data at close vision. Must be able to be active for extended periods of time without experiencing undue fatigue. Must be able to work schedules assigned with the understanding that changes may be instituted according to the needs of the hospital for off days, shifts or weekends. Responsibilities Performs ultrasound studies: abdominal, retroperitoneal, obstetrics/gynecology, small parts, neonatal, vascular and endocavity. Correlates clinical history with the test to be performed. Maintains CEUs required by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Provides clinical instruction of ultrasound students and other healthcare professionals. Must be efficient in the use of all transport equipment, office equipment and related material essential to good patient care and reports any problems when necessary. Takes responsibility for care, cleaning and maintenance of transport equipment used in the transport of patients. Takes responsibility for supplies used in the transport of patients; i.e. O 2 cylinders, warm blankets, etc. DCH Standards: Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation. Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook Must adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self. Performs ultrasonic examinations for subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physician.
