Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer Specialty Job Responsibilities Communicates effectively with the patient to obtain clinical maternal-fetal history/informed consent from the patient or patient's chart to assist the physician in optimizing the performance and interpretation of the examination, as evidenced by the exam results. Explains the procedure to patients/families and answers any questions to ease anxiety and assure patient cooperation, as evidenced by customer satisfaction. Assists the physicians in performing CVS, Amniocentesis, and image optimization studies using departmental protocols to provide optimum results. Demonstrates knowledge of proper sterile techniques and isolation precautions as they pertain to the various specialty procedures. Demonstrates the ability to recognize clinical and/or emergent problems in maternal-fetal patients that may interfere with exams and take appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcome, as evidenced by exam results and patient satisfaction. MedStar Radiology Network is currently seeking an experienced Sonographer for a PRN position at our outpatient imaging center located in Olney Maryland. Prospective candidate is expected to work weekends and also cover our office in Chevy Chase as needed. JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Radiology Medical Director, the Sonographer: Performs sonographic procedures at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed independent practitioner. Ensures services are performed in a safe environment in accordance with established guidelines and regulatory requirements. Serves as part of the imaging center team and seeks as well as provides feedback for improved clinical practice. Requirements EXPERIENCE: Up to 2 years' experience as a licensed Sonographer. EDUCATION: Must be a graduate of an approved program of diagnostic sonography. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must be registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS) or ARRT (S). For IDTF centers, OB, Abdominal, or General certification is required upon hire, and RVT certification is required within one year of hire. Non-IDTF centers require RVT certification along with OB, Abdominal or General within one year of hire, where applicable. Additionally, must meet the state licensure requirement for the state in which they practice. SKILLS/ABILITIES: Skill in operation of Sonography equipment as well as applicable ancillary equipment.
