Records the exact procedure completed and other pertinent patient information as handed off to the nursing staff, i.e. “hand off” policy Demonstrates competency wit the Hospital Information System (CPSI), and Picture Archieve Communication System, (PACS). Meticulously records all pertinent patient/procedure information with CPSI, starts and completes each procedure as required before sending to PACS for radiologist review, interpretation, and storage. Ensures correct side is marked and verifies image quality prior to sending to radiologist. Follows ultrasound protocols as approved by radiologist. Transmit images to PACS for emergency ultrasounds and/or scans of an urgent nature. Follows Critical Results Test policy. Completes verbal call report forms completely/accurately. Periodically reviews ultrasound results for training/learning purposes and for accuracy of technologist impression. Completes all work before leaving shift. Informs the next shift, call tech, or next day tech, or any pending procedures or issues. Demonstrates competency with scheduling, CD burning, film duplication, and other paperwork functions. Essential Functions * Perform ultrasound imaging procedures in accordance with established protocols, ensuring patient safety and comfort * Prepare and position patients for ultrasound procedures, ensuring optimal imaging and diagnostic accuracy * Operate ultrasound equipment to capture high-quality diagnostic images for physician interpretation * Document patient history, imaging procedures, and observations in the electronic medical record (EMR) * Maintain equipment, including cleaning, calibrating, and reporting equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel * Assist radiologists and physicians during invasive ultrasound-guided procedures, such as biopsies and aspirations * Monitor and assess patients for adverse reactions to procedures or contrast media and respond appropriately * Participate in quality control initiatives to maintain accreditation and regulatory compliance * Educate patients and family members regarding imaging procedures and provide compassionate patient care * Maintain a safe and organized work environment in accordance with infection control policies Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations * Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and ultrasound imaging protocols * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction and teamwork * Proficiency in operating ultrasound equipment and related diagnostic software * Strong attention to detail and accuracy in imaging and documentation * Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment * Demonstrates commitment to continuous learning and maintaining ARDMS certification Qualifications Education * Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound or Radiologic Technology program required * Associate's Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Radiologic Technology preferred Licenses/Certifications * ARDMS certification in at least one specialty area (e.g., Abdomen, OB/GYN, Vascular) required * Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required * ARRT (S) or (VS) certification preferred Experience * Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in diagnostic ultrasound imaging preferred * Experience in a hospital or acute care setting preferred
