Campus Safety Under the direct supervision of the Safety & Security supervisor, this position will provide security functions for the College that include physical security and safety of faculty, staff and students, facilities, and assets. The incumbent will conduct highly visible campus patrols, inspections, and escort services as required, respond to all college-related calls for assistance, initiate or assist in investigations of incidents as required or directed, and maintain confidentiality. The incumbent may be assigned to work any shift, including weekends and holidays at the Espanola or El Rito Campus.

Maintain clear and concise communication with internal and external stakeholders
Maintain College safety & security needs of the college community
Enforce all statutes and policies
Contact emergency responders as required
Investigate and report to the supervisor all noted incidents, hazards, and accidents promptly
Responsible for arming/disarming alarms, recording and reporting all alarm incidents to the supervisor
Work special events and college activities
Provides escort services when requested
Assist the supervisor in monitoring security equipment and camera surveillance when directed
Responsible for keeping security vehicles and equipment clean & in working order
Prepares daily activity logs and incident reports by the end of each shift and reports safety incidents to the supervisor promptly
Provide First Aid/CPR when requested/required
Responsible for ensuring that the college is not left unattended without a security officer during the shift, and must not leave the shift until security officers arrive for the shift change
Responsible for daily locking and unlocking of all college property
Conduct or assist with incidents, accidents, or other investigations
Patrol buildings and grounds of the college (interior and exterior) to ensure the safety and security of the physical structures and their permissible occupants
All other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED

One (1) year of experience in security or law enforcement

REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY
ROLE: To provide security services and emergency response to all staff, faculty, students and visitors to the college. Respond to unsafe or student health situations in resident halls and other buildings; implement orders of the Director of Public Safety; implement crime prevention and safety programs per orders of Director of Public Safety; manage security at special events; act as liaison between public safety and college community; maintain safe parking conditions on campus. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implements security measures set forth by the Director of Public Safety; patrols campus, provides security to the employees and students of the college using a community-based public safety model; checks and maintains security to all buildings and grounds. Documents and writes reports on incidents occurring on and relating to the college, maintains a daily log.
Deals with parking concerns and enforcement; barricades areas for special events; provides assistance for unlocking cars and starting vehicles.
Communicates with students, faculty and staff about security concerns and upcoming events; responds to emergencies and alarms.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:
Maintains a good working knowledge of all college policies and enforcement methods.

Duties & Responsibilities
Ensures the safety and security of the campus community by actively monitoring and patrolling campus areas and systems, providing assistance to campus employees, students and visitors, directing traffic, and enforcing campus policies.
• Responds to all campus emergencies, investigates accidents, incidents, suspicious persons, and policy violations, and prepares timely incident reports. Provides appropriate intervention to de-escalate confrontational situations and notifies proper authorities or administrative staff of criminal and policy violations.
• Monitors all fire applications and conducts emergency evacuations and fire drills. Conducts monthly inspections of fire extinguishers, emergency notification towers, elevator phones, automated external defibrillators, and exterior and interior lighting.
• Monitors bio-mass and computer server rooms to ensure safety protocols are followed and verifies that equipment is operating according to official parameters.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
