What You Will Be Doing:
Drives truck to transport materials to and from specified destinations.
Assists customers in unloading product if needed. Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
Occasionally collects payment for goods and services.
Maintains truck log, according to state and federal regulations.
Maintains telephone and / or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
Inspects truck load as well as pre-trip inspection of vehicle.
Positions blocks and ties rope around items to secure cargo during transit.
Must be customer service oriented.

JOB SUMMARY
The Driver Student Transport- utilizes a van to transport students over scheduled routes to and from school and other special excursions; ensures the vehicle of operation is in safe operating condition; and ensures the safety of students during transport, loading, and unloading from the van.
Work schedule will generally be 10-20 hours per week on weekdays: 2-4 hours between 6:00 am and 10:00 am and 2-3 hours between 1:30 pm and 4:30 pm.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check.
Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are:
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Driver's License and evidence of insurability with an acceptable driving record that will be verified
Must be 21 years of age or older
Able to roll, push, pull, bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to pass the Physical Assessment Standards for Utah School Drivers
Speak, read, write, analyze, and follow written and verbal communication in English; listen to, and understand information and ideas presented verbally or in writing
Adaptability and understanding of cultural differences while coping with stressful situations related to students and maintaining confidentiality
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive a van to transport passengers over scheduled routes to and from school, and other occasions, in a safe and timely manner
Assist students and other passengers (e.g., students in wheelchairs, students with special needs, etc.) to provide safe loading and unloading from vehicles including both emergency situations and normal transport
Assist other personnel as may be required (e.g., emergency situations, etc.) to ensure an efficient and effective work environment
Supervise students and other passengers during transit to maintain safety and follow district policy. Report observations and incidents involving students (e.g., discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.) to appropriate personnel
Advise students and other passengers of appropriate behavior (e.g., vehicle safety rules for students, vehicle conduct reports, etc.) to reinforce regulations and maintain passenger safety
Clean assigned vehicles (e.g., sweep and mop inside of vehicle, wipe down seats, clean windows, etc.) to ensure the safety, appearance, and sanitation of the vehicle
Maintain fluids in the assigned vehicle (e.g., gas, oil, water, anti-freeze, etc.) to maintain vehicles in safe operating condition
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections (e.g., fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior
condition, walk-around inspection including lights, etc.) to ensure the safe operating condition of the vehicle and comply with mandated guidelines
Assess incidents, complaints, accidents, and potential emergency situations (e.g., monitor vehicle repair request sheets, etc.) to resolve and recommend a resolution to the situation
Prepare documents and reports (e.g., route reports, employee timecards, incident reports, inspection records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, routing information, federal, state standards, and district policy reports, etc.) to document activities, providing written support and conveying information
Conduct emergency evacuation drills as mandated by state standards to ensure efficiency of procedures and compliance with mandated requirements
Detail vehicle problems in a clear and concise manner (e.g., vehicle repair request, etc.) to maintain safe driving and operating conditions
Report observations and incidents involving students (e.g., discipline, accidents,
inappropriate social behavior, etc.) to communicate information to appropriate personnel
Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars, as assigned to convey, and gather information required to perform functions
Respond to inquiries (e.g., students, parents, other school personnel, etc.) to provide and convey information
Adapt to changing work priorities and work with frequent interruptions, as required
Support a team environment by collaborating with own and other work units to effectively perform the duties of the position
Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively
Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds, might need to drag up to 125 pounds, some climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 90% sitting, 5% walking, and 5% standing. The job is performed in varying atmospheric conditions.
