What You Will Be Doing:

The Bus Driver position will start as an hourly position and when the incumbent has met all the license and training requirements could be offered a contract position with benefits should a contract position be available.
Our bus drivers are essential in making sure students get to school safely and are ready to learn. To recognize their important role, for the 2025-26 school year, the district is offering a special cash bonus to all district bus drivers.

JOB SUMMARY

Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections (e.g., fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior condition, walk-around inspection including lights, etc.) to ensure the safe operating condition of the vehicle and comply with mandated guidelines
Maintain fluids in assigned vehicle (e.g., gas, oil, water, anti-freeze, etc.) to maintain vehicles in safe operating condition
Conduct emergency evacuation drills as mandated by state standards to ensure efficiency of procedures and compliance with mandated requirements

Drives school buses to transport students, special education students, and faculty over scheduled routes and to/from school and field trips safely and on time.
Fuels assigned vehicles to maintain vehicles in safe operating condition.
Informs school personnel, parents, etc., of practices and incidents to provide information for follow-up action and proper procedures. (e.g., rules, regulations, laws, policies, etc.)
Inspects assigned vehicles to ensure the vehicle is in a safe operating condition and meets state requirements. (e.g., pre-trip/post checklist, brake system, oil levels, coolant levels, pressure, fuel, etc.)
Able to kneel for 10 seconds, turn head to look under the bus, and return to standing within 5 seconds to operate a bus safely. This must be performed twice within 60 seconds.
Able to move right foot back and forth between throttle and brake 5 times within 10 seconds while sitting and looking forward to operate the bus safely.
Opens and closes the bus door, activates the 4-way hazard lights, and activates the right/left turn signals within 15 seconds while sitting and looking forward to operate the bus safely.
Able to pick up and carry a 50-pound object 35 feet within 20 seconds from the bus seat (16 inches) to assist a student in a possible emergency.
Prepares documentation to provide written support and convey information for the safety of students, audit trail, time worked, and equipment maintenance. (e.g., incident reports, daily pre-trip inspections report, student count, passenger misconduct, daily mileage, etc.)
To maintain safety, supervise students, bus aides, parents, and teachers during transit.

We are currently seeking Full time and Part time drivers for our daily scheduled runs to Wendover Nevada from Salt Lake City. There will also be opportunities to fill in for other absent drivers or possible Charter trips to Wendover.
These are set schedules, meaning you would have a regular set weekly schedule.
What is the pay? Currently we have 2 pay rates.
“Stay Trip” Flat rate pay $200 per trip. During these trips you would be picking up passengers at 4 locations in the SLC Valley then drive to Wendover and drop off passengers. You would then be off duty on layover for approximately 5 hours in Wendover. After your layover you would then load passengers and return to SLC Valley and drop off passengers at the same 4 stops you picked them up from. (Entire day start to finish with Off duty layover time is approximately 12 hours)
“Turn Around Trip” Flat rate pay $170 per trip. During these trips you would be picking up passengers at 4 locations in the SLC Valley then drive to Wendover and drop off passengers. You would then be on layover for approximately 30 minutes in Wendover. After your layover you would then load passengers and return to SLC Valley and drop off passengers at the same 4 stops you picked them up from. (Entire day start to finish with layover time is approximately 8 hours)
Also in the event of delays (Example:road closures for weather or accidents) that could prolong trips the hourly rate is an additional $20 per hour overtime on top of your flat daily rate.
Drivers also are additionally compensated with cash tips.
