    The Science, Technology and Environmental Studies program at Butler University invites applications for a lecturer in Environmental Studies. Our program seeks a flexible and dynamic teacher with a global vision of environmental studies to help build our innovative international degree program, Butler Overseas. Students in this three-year program will combine three summers of instruction at Butler's Indianapolis campus with six semesters of study abroad across five continents. The lecturer would be based in Indianapolis and teach some courses online to students who are abroad, and other courses in-person, in fall, spring and summer terms. The lecturer would have the opportunity to travel with students to some of their study-abroad locations. Some of their teaching will serve students in Butler's standard four-year program. This is a 12-month, non-tenure-track position with an initial two-year contract and the expectation of continuing appointment. The teaching load is 27 hours annually spread across fall, spring and summer semesters, with the possibility of limited teaching load reductions for administrative work associated with Butler Overseas. This is a teaching position with no contractual expectation of research or scholarship. The anticipated start date for this position is August 2026. Candidates are expected to have completed a PhD in environmental science, environmental studies, or an adjacent discipline prior to appointment. Undergraduate nursing clinical adjuncts may provide instruction to nursing students in the laboratory, simulation, hospital, community, and/or nursing home clinical settings and, if interested, may be provided the opportunity to teach content in the didactic/lecture setting under the direction and support of course faculty. Work hours may vary and include day and evening instructional times as well as in-person and virtual instructional opportunities across summer, fall, and winter semesters. Please note that this is a contracted position and is part-time/as needed or temporary. Those who are hired will be a part of the pool of undergraduate nursing clinical adjuncts and will be offered work based on course enrollments and program needs each semester.
