OVERALL ROLE The Shipping/Warehouse assistant assists in the day-to-day operations in the shipping, receiving and warehouse departments. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Shipping Process shipments and paperwork (i.e., carriers, labels, BOLs) using current operating systems. Pick and prepare materials for shipment. Assist sales with questions or issues in regards to customers shipments. Notify sales of late deliveries and ship schedule changes. Assist in the loading and unloading of materials Inspect orders to ensure product meets customer requirements. Maintain work area to assure a neat and functional space. Provide tracking information as required. Receiving Ensure receiving forms are completed and provided to accounting. Maintain receiving paperwork and samples in an organized manner. Warehouse Monitor inventory of supplies such as boxes, tape, spools. Maintain warehouse cleanliness and organization. Store completed production items and assure they are identified and their storage location is recorded. Pick and return materials needed by production and sales, as needed Inspect and maintain safety of lift trucks, pallet jacks, and all other equipment needed to perform the duties of the material handler. Inventory control including cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy. QUALIFICATIONS: Forklift experience Good verbal and written communication Ability to anticipate and solve problems, and perform simple math calculations Organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to meet deadlines Proficient with data entry and inventory software Skilled in the safe operation of hand jacks, lift trucks and other material handling equipment Able to lift up-to 50 lbs. The Order Puller\/Warehouse worker responsible for picking materials to fill orders, and putting away credits to return materials into stock. This individual works with others to check inventory levels to confirm low and out items, to insure proper storage and handling of materials, and to provide a safe and efficient workplace. Specific duties include: • Knowing the locations of inventory items and being able to properly identify stock and non\-stock items according to delivery slip skus and descriptions. • Using order slips to pull correct materials and quantities for delivery. • Loading trucks according to the order in which deliveries will be made. • Ensure that individual loads are built and banded or fastened safely and securely, and can be delivered according to DOT regulations. • Alerting the Inventory Control Supervisor to low and out items as encountered. • Replenishing full units of material to the proper rack as old units are pulled through. • Checking quality of materials pulled for delivery to insure only acceptable materials are shipped. • Culling unacceptable materials from stock inventory area to assist co\-workers in maintaining proper quality levels. • Alerting the Inventory Control Supervisor to culled and unacceptable materials. • Assisting the Dispatcher as required to provide information on orders, deliveries, or inventory; assisting with yard and warehouse maintenance and cleanliness; and unloading trucks, pulling loads, or making deliveries; or wherever else assistance may be required.
