In addition, GTAW (TIG) and Stud Welding are utilized in some weld stations. **Candidates must pass the following Welder Qualification Tests at the completion of a Caterpillar provided 6-Week Weld School and 3 Weeks OJT:**
+ 0.052" GMAW - 2F - 8mm - Single Pass
+ 0.052" GMAW - 2F - 10mm - MULTI-PASS
+ 0.052" GMAW - 2G - 12.7mm - MULTI-PASS

* Uses the Flux Cored Arc Welding process to tack weld various small components to round or formed shafts to make a pole assembly for the welder to weld. * Works in Large Pole department on individual fitter station to assemble pole assembly. Assist material handler in loading round tube or formed shaft on individual fitter station.
* Reads and interprets drawings to determine parts needed to assemble pole assembly. Locate and gather Storeroom Personnel staged parts needed for assembly from parts staging area. Frequently pushes, pulls, and lifts up to 50 pounds.
* Reads and interprets drawing to assure proper location of various small part attachments. Layout various locations on round tube or formed shaft based upon interpretation of drawings and specifications.
* Uses measuring tape, level, square, and angle finders to measure distances and angles. Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides feet, inches, fractions, and decimals. Uses table to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions.
* Uses plasma torch and oxy-fuel torch to cut steel. Uses jigs made at Sabre/Texas for laying out vang slots and for cutting holes in shafts for inserting hand hole rims, arm mounting simplex, couplings, and other small parts. Wear protective goggles or welding hood to protect eyes from harmful rays.
* Moves around round tube or formed shaft as necessary to get into proper position to accurately measure and assemble components described above including standing on elevated platform when necessitated by the size of the shafts.
* Uses motorized grinders, motorized buffers, stone grinders, and drills to help assemble pole assembly according to prescribed specifications, codes and drawing. Wears protective face shield and safety glasses to protect eyes and face.
* Adjusts welding machine to achieve desired results within parameters of established welding procedures. Changes tips, ceramic cups, and electrodes in plasma torch as needed to achieve desired cutting results.
* Finish weld various products of the unit to keep the product moving through the large pole department in a timely manner. Reads and interprets weld symbols.
* Uses oxy-fuel torch to preheat parts prior to welding. Read codes and specifications to determine proper temperature and uses instruments provided to measure temperature.
* Uses chipping hammer, wire brush, motorized grinder, and motorized wire brush at various times to clean welded areas.
* Uses pneumatic drills and magnetic drills to drill and ream various sizes holes in poles as required by the drawing.
* Wears protective equipment, including safety glasses, insulated welding gloves, welding cap, leather sleeves, and/or cape, and welding hood for protection against hot metal, arc rays, grinding debris, and other potentially.
* Performs visual inspecting and identifies material discrepancies to assure welds have been completed satisfactorily in compliance with applicable drawings and specifications. Uses a weld gauge to measure weld size.
* When called for by the drawings and specifications, must produce full-penetration welds as defined by American Welding Society code. Uses air-arc gouger to remove weld defects, and rewelds to meet specifications.
* Uses overhead crane to load finished poles into bolsters for transportation out of the pole assembly area.
* Welds other products in other areas, using either Flux-Cored Arc Welding or Gas Metal Arc Welding process.
* Assist and instructs other welders and fitters when needed to overcome deficiencies in quality and/or productivity.
* High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
* Must have knowledge of basic shop mathematics, addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication and decimals.
* Proficiency in reading complex prints and specifications.
* Must know how to properly use a weld gauge.

Physical Requirement:

The Tepa Companies are seeking a Welding Apprentice who will Perform welding tasks under supervision on piping and plate within petroleum operations facilities. In addition to welding, the successful candidate must be able to assist in tasks related to welding such as fit‐up, preparation, repair, inspection, and post weld preparation. Three (3) years directly related work experience or two (2) years of concentrated welding training.
High school Diploma or GED required, AA in welding.
Able to lift to a maximum of 25-40 lbs.
Able to sit/stand for long periods of time.
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Salary Range: $22.00 - $26.00 / hour

Job Overview
We are looking for dependable MIG Aluminum Welders to join our team. In this job, you will fit, weld, and assemble aluminum parts using MIG welding. You will read basic drawings, set up parts, and check your work to make sure it meets our quality standards.
Main Responsibilities
Weld and assemble aluminum parts using MIG welding.
Clean and repair welds when needed.
Follow all safety rules and company quality standards.
Keep your work area clean and take care of tools and equipment.
Work with other welders and production staff to meet daily goals.
Pay close attention to detail while completing your tasks.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
2-3 years of MIG aluminum welding experience, or formal welding training.
Ability to read simple blueprints or drawings.

Able to measure materials using a tape measure, square, etc.
Must be reliable, safety-minded, and able to work well with a team.
