DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this seasonal position, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all welding activities adhere to established quality and safety protocols. Collaboration with your team will be essential for the successful execution of projects. Your duties will encompass a range of welding operations, including welding, brazing, and cutting both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. You will be expected to work autonomously, applying your skilled trade expertise to repair various components, perform structural welding on bridge elements, and troubleshoot issues related to equipment frames, hitches, and plows. Position Overview
JGM is seeking an experienced Fitter/Fabricator to join our team at our heavy industrial steel fabrication shop. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the structural steel industry, preferably within an AISC-certified environment. This position requires the ability to efficiently and precisely fit and fabricate structural steel components to industry specifications. Responsibilities
Interpret and execute shop drawings and specifications for structural steel fabrication.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Purpose Statement: This position exists to produce welds that support the prefabrication of exterior and interior wall panels for commercial buildings.
Essential Functions:
•Read and interpret shop drawings.
•Gather and collect materials.
•Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on specifications and shop drawings.
•Accurately measure and cut miscellaneous materials.
•Perform panel layout in accordance with drawings.
•Pre-assemble panel components in preparation for weld.
•Perform welds to ensure panel stays secured.
•Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical,horizontal or overhead)
•Attends welder and safety training as required by management.
Marginal Functions
•Maintains welding maintenance logs for welder certifications to remain current.
•Perform sheathing of welded panels.
•Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
•High school diploma or GED.
•4+ years welding experience (or a combination of pre or post-secondary education in welding and workexperience).
•Current AWS D1.1 GMAW and/or SMAW certifications.
Preferred Education and Experience:
•5+ years MIG welding experience (or a combination of pre or post-secondary education in welding andwork experience).
•Experience in a manufacturing environment.
•Trade school/vocational education in construction/carpentry and/or general carpentry experience.
