Work You'll Do:

What You'll Be Doing
Check during assembly for proper weld location and size, proper fit, and operation of sliding or rotating parts. Make repairs when necessary. Check for weld spatter, burn-thru, and other visible weld defects and remove or repair when necessary. May require use of oxyacetylene or plasma arc cutting torches or automatic programmable welder. Check completed work per job instructions and print specifications. Properly set and adjust all welding parameters to maintain quality welds. Also load and assist in welding wire (spool) changes.
Perform all job set-ups, rework on painted parts and finished products and must be willing to perform all other operations in the department. Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance of welding equipment and fixtures.
May be required to record measurements. Clean and change torch tips and nozzles, and clean conducts or lines with solvent as required. Clean or change helmet lenses as necessary.
Report labor. Move completed parts to designated areas. Move stock to and from workstations, stock racks and holding areas. May be required to rack and un-rack parts. Responsible for schedule adherence, safety, housekeeping, rejects, and productivity applicable per Standard Operation Procedures (SOP's).
Responsible for both quality and quantity of work: Participate in team activities and problem solving sessions as required. Communicate problems and/or solutions to appropriate team member. Must follow processes and procedures as written. As needed, document and/or chart production data to aid in problem identification, quality feedback and production scheduling. Troubleshoot problems and repair when necessary. Train, instruct and assist other operators in their duties as required.to ensure quality product and smooth flow.
Evaluate defective material and tooling, faulty operations, questionable conditions and potential work stoppages. Advise and recommend alternatives to appropriate person. Day to Day Duties:
Performing arc and torch cutting and gouging.
Using generators, compressors, tuggers, blowers, grinders, and other power and air tools.
Welding plate with 7018, 7024 and 6010 stick (SMAW), flux core (FCAW), and submerged arc automatic machines (3 o'clock and “goat”/tractor).
Using come-alongs, hydraulic jacks, hoists, air bags, winches, and other lifting equipment.
Using tank shell buggies, tank scaffolding, tank ladders, and other specialty equipment.
Performing vacuum box tests, oil tests, dye penetrant tests, and other non-destructive quality examinations.
Using gas monitors, fresh air kits, respirators, emergency rescue kits, and other safety equipment.
Operating forklifts, man lifts, boom lifts, and other large lifting equipment.
Knowledge of crane operations (including rigging and signaling)
Reading detailed erection and fabrication drawings.
Planning the sequence and methods of fitting up, welding, repairing, and constructing tanks.
Completing job safety analysis, safety audits, site-specific training, and other safety training.
Follow directions and work professionally with other crew members.
Other duties as assigned.

C23 Welder Working at our Cincinnati Aviation Component Service Center: Our ACSC facility develops and conducts a wide array of engine component repairs - including rotating parts, complex assemblies and nozzles on 29 different engine models.
* Perform layout, set-up, and weld on a variety of aircraft engine component parts and assemblies.
* Working from planning or written instructions, prints or sketches. Fabricate, repair or rework using all required welding and cutting processes which may include manual arc processes (GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, TIG) semi-automated weld processes (GTAW, PAW, LW, EBW,), machine weld processes (RSW, Dabber,) and oxyacetylene welding.
* In addition, may use oxyacetylene cutting, plasma cutting, flame brazing/soldering, TIG brazing and arc brazing.
* Use argon chambers and gas back-ups.
* Fabricate heat sinks and related items to perform individual weld operations. Using file, bench grinders, hand grinders, etc., to perform welding preparation, defect removal and manual dimensional restoration.
* Achieve certification on required processes.
* Ability to bench, planish, peen, roll, forge, stretch/shrink to restore dimensional and structural integrity on various engine hardware.
* Use all types of measuring instruments.
* Perform fluorescent dye penetrant as required, maintain associated paperwork, work to required levels of quality and efficiency.
* Direct or train others and perform related duties as required.
* Interact with engineers with the design of tooling and repair process on repair development projects.
Required Qualifications:
* High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
* 5 years verifiable GTAW Weld experience including reading various measuring instruments, such as calipers and micrometer, while working from prints, sketches, planning instructions to weld a variety of parts and assemblies
Preferred Qualifications:
* Previously held weld certification(s) in corrosive resistant and heat resistant ferrous alloys, nickel base alloys, cobalt-base alloys, aluminum alloys, and titanium alloys.
* Previous welding and fabrication experience on aircraft hardware.
* Ten years or more verified GTAW experience
* Ability to fabricate, repair or re-work using processes listed above; use of argon chambers and gas back-ups.
* Proficiency in the fabrication of heat sinks and related items for performing individual weld operations
* Demonstrated ability to use files, bench grinders, and various hand and power tools, etc. to restore areas repaired to required dimensions
* Experience with fluorescent dye penetrant.
* Weld schooling certificate (1 point)
Additional Information:
* Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds on occasion. Items more than 40 pounds will be lifted with assistance.
* Must certify within 8 hours per base material group as required and periodic certification thereafter
* Ability to learn and operate material handling and lifting devices, including ability to obtain forklift license as required.
* Must be able to pass welding skills demonstration test
* Must pass the eye requirements per AWS D17.194
