**Your Impact**
+ Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, plans, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, flow diagrams, materials sampling, computer-generated reports, and other matrices for field inspection activities.
+ Assist with performing basic professional inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, construction, materials, controls, resources, layout, alignment, and elevation to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, and construction or operating permits.
+ Provide technical assistance documenting geotechnical drilling investigations, proper construction of geosynthetic containment and leachate collection systems, stormwater controls, infrastructure, and equipment according to provided design specifications.
+ Assist with verifying construction quantities, change orders, interpretation of contract plans and specifications, and escalating any differences, errors, or technical problems for appropriate resolution.
+ Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation related to inspection findings Comply with client policies and procedures for inspection work under contract.
+ Comply with client and regulatory policies and procedure for inspection work under contract.
+ Complete training on assigned tasks.
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

**Who You Are**
**Required Qualifications**
+ High School Diploma.
+ Minimum of 0-2 years of experience
+ General awareness of construction principles and field inspection practices.
+ Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
+ Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies.
+ Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
+ Basic proficiency with technical writing, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and anti-harassment policies.
+ Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. This may include extended travel and weekend work.

In this role, you will join our waste industry services team and focus on projects related to solid waste, power, transportation, stormwater, infrastructure, and agriculture. The successful candidate will be able to support a diverse range of areas including, but not limited to, geotechnical design and analysis, civil design, earthworks construction, piping systems, surface water management, erosion and slope stability, and landfill permitting and design. **Your Impact**
+ Provide proactive and strategic leadership for the civil engineering discipline and function, offering direction, expertise, and support to ensure project and work site deliverables are successfully achieved within the business sector.
+ Perform engineering review of permit applications, engineering design plans and specifications, standby plans and engineering contracts, integrated management plans, and periodic construction inspections, to ensure that they comply with applicable state and/or federal regulations and sound engineering practice and standards.
+ Lead larger-scale more complex civil engineering projects ensuring contributors know what they are required to do and by when, preparing and overseeing relevant project budgets, monitoring external events, tracking hours and expenses, ensuring satisfactory performance, and supervising subcontractors, contract work, and employees.
+ Responsible for the pursuit and development of business and the successful execution of work for current and potential infrastructure work within a geography specifically for the large projects within the area.
+ Lead technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentations, and meetings.
+ Support the overall long-term strategy, growth, and pipeline development of Civil Engineering work for WSP in assigned area of responsibility, with a focus on infrastructure opportunities in all disciplines (planning, design, and strategic consulting and program/construction management).
+ Responsible for the profitable performance of the individual projects and the successful completion of the projects within the specified area.
+ Assist with the preparation of an annual update to business tactical action plans within the specified area.
+ Meet with various public or private entities or individuals to discuss issues relating to a variety of engineering/construction challenges and programs.
+ Ensure that engineering discipline certifications, accreditations, and value proposition is developed and continuously improved.
+ Conduct needs analyses and client value surveys to align the engineering discipline's function with business and project strategy, identifying and addressing any skill gaps or risks within the sector business operations.
+ Schedule engineering discipline meetings, providing updates and recommendations to ensure that all reasonable and proper measures are taken to inculcate discipline expertise and innovation into project work.
+ Serve as one of the engineering discipline's lead representatives/liaison to a variety of external entities including Federal, State, and Local Agencies, Clients, Subcontractors, industry-related groups, and various government and community entities.

**Who You Are**
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.
+ 12+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering, civil and infrastructure design.
+ Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
+ Advanced proficiency with civil engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, standard of care, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
+ Advanced proficiency with infrastructure design.
+ Strong working knowledge of relevant civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements, and the business impact upon the organization.
+ Advanced proficiency with making technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
+ Works independently and provides guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
+ Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
+ Tactical lateral thinking and strong analytical skills with attention to detail and prioritization of responsibilities in a pressure work environment.
+ Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, clients, regulators, and company-wide staff, including those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exits.

Primary Responsibilities:
Opening and closing the shop daily
Pre and post shift team meetings, ensuring each Ski Technician understands expectations and responsibilities for that shift.

This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Geotechnical/Civil Engineer for our Lansing or Holland, MI office. This role will allow you to be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.
In this role, you will join our waste industry services team and focus on projects related to solid waste, power, transportation, stormwater, infrastructure, and agriculture. The successful candidate will be able to support a diverse range of areas including, but not limited to, geotechnical design and analysis, civil design, earthworks construction, piping systems, surface water management, erosion and slope stability, and landfill permitting and design. Your Impact
* Developing, scoping, and managing small-sized projects.
* Develop and manage subsurface investigations and laboratory testing programs.
* Conduct geotechnical engineering analysis including geotechnical investigation programs,
* Civil layout, grading and/or drainage design.
* Preparing engineering design reports, drawings, technical specifications, and/or engineer's estimates.
* Assist with construction quality assurance projects.
* Client interaction.
* Regulatory agency interaction.
* Training junior staff.
* Experience with preparing and understanding grading plans and earthworks related construction drawings and construction specifications.
* Assist in the preparation and implementation of site Health and Safety Plans.
* Interpret and summarize data, including reports and documents that result in sound engineering and regulatory conclusions.
* Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide "trusted advisor" service and future ready solutions for clients.
* Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
* Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
* Minimum Bachelors of Science degree in Geotechnical, Geological or Civil Engineering.
* 5-7 years of experience in the practice of geotechnical, geological and/or civil engineering design and/or construction.
* Registration as Engineer-in-Training or recent Professional Engineer license.
* Experience in some of the following areas of practice (with a willingness to learn the others): construction quality assurance, solid waste/landfill design and construction, geotechnical engineering evaluations, earthworks construction and/or soils testing, preparing permitting documents, preparing and/or reviewing construction documents such as drawings, technical specifications, engineer's estimates, and construction quality assurance plans.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software.
* Experience using geotechnical engineering software such as Rocscience, GeoStudio or Ensoft suites.
* Ability to work both independently and within groups.
* Excellent work history with leadership abilities and a positive attitude.
* Proficient with making technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
* Works independently and provides guidance and leadership to junior-level team or project members, with strict adherence to quality assurance/quality control
* Tactical lateral thinking and strong analytical skills with attention to detail and prioritization of responsibilities in a pressure work environment.
* Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and anti-harassment policies.
* Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs.
* Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
