X-ray technician job in Cortland, NY
Operate stationary and portable x‐ray equipment to make radiographs of designated regions of the body. Supervise and instruct students in the clinical areas. Education, License & Certification: Graduation of an ARRT accredited Radiologic Technology program and must obtain ARRT certification within 6 months of employment.
OR a graduate from an ARRT non-accredited program and must provide ARRT certification prior to employment.
NYS Radiologic Technologist License or NYS Radiologic Technologist Temporary Permit required for positions in New York State.
Experience: Minimum of six months preferred as a registered technologist in a Radiology Department of a general acute‐care hospital.
Essential Functions: Performs Diagnostic radiologic procedures: 1. Adjust radiographic equipment to correct settings for each examination. 2. Accurate positioning of patients to fully utilize photometer. 3. Performs appropriate QA on images generated prior to submission to Radiologist. This includes accurate labeling of left or right side, patient name, medical record number, date and time, as well as technique. Proficient in patient care activities as related to radiology. 1. Ability to relate to patient's information pertaining to ordered procedures. 2. Follow protocols in dealing with patients with infectious diseases. 3. Demonstrate competency in patient preparation including informed consent, and injection of IV contrast. Knowledgeable in the correct use of Radiology Information System (EPIC), scheduling tracking, completion, downtime procedures, and PACS. Works as part of a team to maintain high standards in Radiology. 1. Attends inservice programs as scheduled. 2. Ability to work cooperatively with other technologists, nurses, and healthcare professionals. 3. Works to keep morale high, does not complain to him/herself but works at finding a solution to a particular problem. 4. Seeks help and answers to questions when they are not sure. 5. Performs examinations in a confident, timely fashion. 6. Provides for patient's modesty, comfort, and privacy. 7. Demonstrates willingness to accept non‐routine work assignments, as appropriate.
Other Duties: 1. Cleaning and restocking rooms daily. 2. Performs other duties as assigned. 3. Ability to deal with stressful situations (e.g. trauma). 4. Reports problems occurring with equipment to supervisor or QA technologist. 5. Supervises, instructs and evaluates radiology students assigned to his/her area. 6. Must be able to transport portable equipment to operating room suite, emergency room, nursing units, and morgue. 7. Meets regularly at Radiology departmental meetings, with Radiology school officials to maintain current knowledge of school policies/procedures and student progress. 8. Must have ability to react quickly to emergency situations such as patient fainting, patient being unsteady while standing for procedures, if unsafe situation occurs (such as fire), getting the patient to safety and sounding alarm. 9. Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends, on a scheduled basis. 10. Must be able to lift, push, reach, bend, stoop, and walk in order to care for patients. Must be able to perform a stand‐ pivot transfer with a 105 pound patient.

Interventional Radiology Technologist II (Vascular IR) - Full Time

This position is offering up to $50,000 in signing bonus for external candidates as well as internal per diem to full time conversions! The primary responsibility is to set up and assist the physicians in performing a variety of interventional procedures, which require sterile technique, introduction of medical devices into designated areas of the body and operation of a variety of medical equipment, including CT equipment. This specialized multimodality role requires specific knowledge of cross-sectional human anatomy and its application in computed tomography, inclusive of post processing applications and including drainages, biopsies, and peripheral vascular examinations combined with Cardiovascular-interventional (CV) which uses specialized equipment to perform diagnostic angiographic procedures and complex vascular and nonvascular interventional and therapeutic procedures.
Experience
Minimum of one year radiological technologist experience preferred. Prior experience in an IR or Cardiology lab favorable. Prefer CT/VI certification to qualify. This is a Multimodality IR staff position with ability to operate Computed Tomography equipment and must be credentialed in VI IR/CT within 18 months if not already obtained
Education
Certification from an approved Radiological Technology Program (Two years).

Practices sterile technique. Assists the physicians with procedures, performs scrub duties according to standard care plan, physician preference, policy and procedure
Prepares sterile table and environment for interventional procedures
Positions patient to get optimal imaging of anatomic structures. This is critical to minimize radiation exposure and the injection volumes of contrast agents.
Practices radiation safety for patients' and staff safety at all times
Learn radiological computer functions and equipment controls in areas of IR and the Operating room
Utilizes highly sophisticated equipment such as computerized tomography scanners, computerized fluoroscopy, biplane imaging, pressure injectors, patient monitors, etc. taking education, training, and available resources into account for appropriate usage
Other Duties
Maintains clean, safe work environment
Provide patient care within the IR technologists' scope of practice
Complete understanding of the functionality of the EPIC and PACS programs as they relate to IR
Basic scheduling functions to coordinate procedures with physicians, imaging modalities, Anesthesia and required supplies

Contacts:
Internal: Extensive contact with patients, radiologists, nursing personnel, receptionists, patient transporters, file clerks, referring physicians.
External: Contact with vendors to discuss new supplies, service, and equipment etc. After installation of new equipment, staff must go through an in-service on function of equipment.
Patient Care: The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit. Age groups can include infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
Equipment Used
Interventional Radiology equipment including but not limited to imaging equipment, power injectors, thrombectomy pumps, ablation generators, and computers.
Physical Demands:
Sitting, standing (1 to 4 hours per case), stooping, stretching, lifting, and assisting patients from stretchers/wheelchairs to examining tables. Ability to work wearing lead apron (2-3 pounds) for up to 6-7 hours / day. Able to push patients' beds and wheelchairs. Able to work in sterile surroundings at a set-up table handing physician supplies needed during procedure.
Mental Demands:
Ability to effectively deal with patients who may be under physical and emotional stress. Specialized duties including but not limited to planning and prioritizing own work; clear objectives that impact others; varied procedures and techniques; non-routine, technical, treatment, operational problems and general guidance.

Occasional exposure to minor hazards that could cause relatively minor injury (first aid - type injuries) or illness

The Diagnostic X-Ray Technologist I, under the leadership of the Supervisor of Medical Imaging and working at the direction of the Radiology Manager, provides prompt, efficient, courteous services to patients while taking high-quality radiographs. Job Summary
The CT Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality computed tomography imaging procedures during overnight hours. This role supports emergency and inpatient diagnostic services, ensuring accurate imaging, patient safety, and adherence to established protocols in a hospital-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform CT imaging procedures according to physician orders and departmental protocols
Ensure patient safety, proper positioning, and radiation protection at all times
Accurately operate CT imaging equipment and associated computer systems
Administer contrast media in accordance with policy and certification requirements
Review images for quality and completeness prior to submission
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in the imaging system
Respond effectively to urgent and emergent imaging needs during overnight shifts

What you'll do
The Mammography Technologist I will perform radiologic and mammographic imaging using ALARA principles. Provides prompt, efficient, courteous services to patients while taking high-quality radiographs. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Performs mammography, DEXA (as needed), and diagnostic radiography examinations, and maintains up-to-date mammography CE credits.
* Maintains equipment for proper diagnostic imaging
* Consults with radiologist when necessary
* Accepts patients and verifies correct preparation for exam ordered/explains procedure to patient
* Reports equipment issues to supervisor and calls in service as necessary
* Quality controls all images, maintains inventory and adheres to safety regulations/ALARA
* Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology to obtain the maximum diagnostic image corresponding to the body part being imaged to limit the need for repeated exposure
* Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards
* Maintains an excellent quality of x-ray radiographs with a minimum of a 5% repeat rate as randomly checked by Leadership
* Performs mammography x-ray examinations in accordance with the ACR guidelines
* Develops the x-ray radiographs including the evaluation of films for technical quality
* Prepares, identifies and/or administers medication as prescribed by a licensed practitioner
* Explains all procedures to patients and answers any questions or concerns regarding the test as seen in patient surveys and noted by the leader
* Transports patients to and from the room when required as designated by the leader
* If applicable: provides fluoroscopic assistance to the Radiologists, setting up sterile trays, preparing and dispensing barium or other chemical mixtures as necessary, and assists in the positioning of patients during fluoroscopic examination as noted by the Radiologist
* Selects appropriate technical factors on an individual patient basis and operates equipment
* Participates in quality assurance of all equipment and processing according to ACR guidelines
* Assists the Radiologist with mammography biopsy as observed by the Radiologist, where applicable
* Checks instrument calibrations daily; performs quality control procedures daily on equipment as noted by leader
* Maintains records of examination data and other patient information on all mammography patients as noted by leader
* Maintains mammography x-ray processing quality assurance as noted by leader
* Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance and quality control program, as described by the mammography quality assurance standards and the American College of Radiology (ACR) as noted by leader
* Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops
* Maintains competence through continuing education
* Maintains appropriate continuing education credits to keep up licensure as recorded by leader
* Maintains a good working relationship with Radiology students that complete their clinical within our department as observed by leader
* Maintains adequate level of inventory in all rooms
* Cleans and organizes x-ray rooms after patient use as observed by leader
* Attends the necessary meetings to keep up with changes within the department
* Attends monthly department meetings 90-95% of the time as recorded in the meeting minutes

What we need from you
Education:
* Satisfactory completion of a formal radiology technology training program in an AMA approved school, required
* Before performing breast exams, completion of Mammography Quality Standard Act regulations of completion of 40 hours of documented training specific to mammography is required

The CT Technologist will be responsible for a multitude of CT exams including biopsies and Interventional CT. Employee will be knowledgeable and dedicated to radiation safety.
