$4k sign-on bonus The Radiology Technologist will operate radiographic equipment to produce radiographs of body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by the ER Physician in accordance with the Radiologist accepted protocol. The technologist will also be proficient in the positioning of the patient and examining table to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician. Technologist will also practice radiation safety techniques with the ALARA principle in mind, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors, to maximize radiation protection to patient and staff. Each technologist will operate CT SCAN equipment to produce Computed Tomography (CT scans) of the body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by the Physician in accordance with the Radiologist protocol. Technologist will be responsible for administering and consenting for contrast both IV and oral, while being aware of all possible reactions and side effects. The Technologist will also be responsible for filling out appropriate paperwork and ensuring proper documentation in patients' chart. Our Primary goal is to ensure patient safety and satisfaction, while acquiring an acceptable exam of diagnostic quality. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Maintains awareness of all departmental and operational policies of NEC. Assists in the maintenance of all equipment in the department, including cleaning and QA procedures Explains to Patients the benefits and risks of Procedures and Exams Prepares Patient as necessary for examination, i.e.: contrast, proper IV placements, checking labs. Facilitates departmental operations through completion of all appropriate Contrast, Extravasations, Pregnancy, and other forms related to preformed exam. Maintains safety precautions to minimize radiation exposure to patients, other personnel, and self. Maintains current knowledge of Diagnostic Radiology /CT procedures performed in the Radiology Department. Perform radiographic and other diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of injuries and disease. In addition to x-ray tech duties, this position will also serve as a medical receptionist. Essential Functions Greet patient, ensure that the patient has removed all jewelry and metal objects, is wearing the appropriate medical gown and is not pregnant. Prepare and position the patient for diagnostic imaging procedures. Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of the body as requested by the physician. Explain procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation. Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff. Maintain a neat and clean working environment and ensure all supplies have been ordered and stocked. Process images and review for proper identification and quality control. Utilize both digital and non-digital diagnostic imaging equipment, ensuring compliance with approved radiology techniques and all AFC/Doctors Express policies and procedures. Prepare images for reading by physician as well as contact any additional physicians if a second opinion is needed. Aid physician with prescribed patient treatments in accordance with approved standards, policies, procedures and protocol as necessary. Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on equipment, arranging for repairs as needed. Complete forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed. Observe safety and security procedures; promote a safe and pleasant work environment. Maintain complete and accurate documentation. Report potentially unsafe conditions to management. Regular attendance to ensure efficient clinic operations. Marginal Functions Manage difficult or emotional customer situations, respond promptly to customer needs. Serve as Medical Receptionist if/when needed Adapt to change in work environment, manage competing demands Other duties as assigned Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent, graduation from an accredited school of Radiologic Sciences and Limited Medical Radiology Technician (LMRT) license in Texas. Previous medical clerical experience preferred. Basic computer knowledge, e.g., Microsoft Office. Accuracy and detail orientation. Positive customer service skills. Physical Demands required for this position include: the ability to speak clearly, close vision, the ability to stand for extended periods, the ability to reach and bend, periodic lifting and moving of items of no more than ten (10) pounds, and walking. We are searching for a Radiology Specialist - someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you'll perform exceptional and specialized radiographic procedures at the request of the licensed independent practitioner for interpretation by radiologists. You will integrate scientific knowledge, technical skills, patient interaction, and compassionate care to result in diagnostic information. Think you've got what it takes? Qualifications: • Technical diploma from a formal diagnostic radiology program required • R-ARRT and CMRT certification required • 3 years' radiology experience required Responsibilities: • Check rooms daily for adequate stock levels and update supply lists when needed • Confirm patient identity with approved identifiers and prepare patients for procedures • Verify patient's pregnancy and informed consent statuses • Assess factors that may contraindicate the procedure • Determine type and dose of contrast agent to be administered based on the patient's medical/physical status • Provide clear and detailed information about the procedure to the patient, family, and others • Maintain current knowledge of equipment, materials, medications, and processes • Work independently and perform routine and complex procedures while accurately demonstrating anatomy and pathology skills • Serve as an educational resource to others • Applies ALARA principles, including use of technical factors, to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others • Document fluoroscopic time, radiation exposure, incidents, variances, unusual circumstances, and/or patient concerns • Apply patient safety principles during all aspects of radiographic procedures • Report all equipment issues to Bio-Med • Consult with radiologists and/or medical physicists with image quality issues • Maintain positive lines of communication radiologists, leadership, nurses, peers, staff, and others
