Assists practitioner with fluoroscopy, arthrography, OR procedures and trauma

Required: Graduate of accredited Imaging Program
Preferred: Associates degree
Experience

Certifications
Required: ARRT or registry eligible; must have ARRT within one year post graduation; BLS, state license if required

Summary: Assist with the delivery of occupational health care. Perform radiological duties and procedures as permitted by governing agencies.
Responsibilities
Prepare patients for radiological procedures and take X-rays following established procedures.
Practice sound procedures which meet or exceed recommended industry standards.
Produce quality diagnostic radiographs and maintain a repeat rate of two percent or less.
Ensure all equipment is in good working condition and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Assist with patient flow process and secure/stock necessary X-ray supplies.
Travels market to provide staffing coverage and on-site services.
Follow protocol of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient population.
Apply the Minimal Necessary Standard when accessing protected health information.
Communicate effectively with relevant Supervisors and Management while performing onsite services.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Current NCT, LMRT or RT licensure in Active Status.
Proficient computer skills.
Exceptional customer service and communication skills in both verbal and written form.
Excellent analytical, interpersonal, leadership, time management, follow-up, and problem-solving skills.

Will display knowledge in the use of all other equipment used in CT Scan. Performs examinations according to protocol, radiologist preference and ACR guidelines.
Consistently consents patients for metals and contrast and obtains necessary surgical history of patients prior to exam.
Documents in information systems upon completion of procedures; always documents all STAT reads according to departmental policies.
Maintains cleanliness and inventory of the lab to include equipment and facilities. Will follow proper disinfection techniques, restocks supplies as necessary, carts or work area will be cleaned and stocked at the completion of each shift. Supplies area with items necessary for daily schedule; advises supervisor of any items are needed.
Follows ACR QC requirements according to guidelines and internal policies.

Technologist will also practice radiation safety techniques with the ALARA principle in mind, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors, to maximize radiation protection to patient and staff.
Each technologist will operate CT SCAN equipment to produce Computed Tomography (CT scans) of the body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by the ER Physician in accordance with the Radiologist protocol. Technologist will be responsible for administering and consenting for contrast both IV and oral, while being aware of all possible reactions and side effects. The Technologist will also be responsible for filling out appropriate paperwork and ensuring proper documentation in patients' chart. Our Primary goal is to ensure patient safety and satisfaction, while acquiring an acceptable exam of diagnostic quality.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Maintains awareness of all departmental and operational policies of NEC.
Assists in the maintenance of all equipment in the department, including cleaning and QA procedures
Explains to Patients the benefits and risks of Procedures and Exams
Prepares Patient as necessary for examination, i.e.: contrast, proper IV placements, checking labs.
Facilitates departmental operations through completion of all appropriate Contrast, Extravasations, Pregnancy, and other forms related to preformed exam.
Maintains safety precautions to minimize radiation exposure to patients, other personnel, and self.
Maintains current knowledge of Diagnostic Radiology /CT procedures performed in the Radiology Department.
Possesses basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology required to apply principles of radiology and methods of exposure to obtain Diagnostic quality images.
Possesses basic knowledge of radiology/CT equipment functioning to provide for minor repair and trouble-shooting for problems.
Proficient in the utilization of all radiological/lab equipment of the ER.
Utilizes appropriate body mechanics in moving/lifting patients and equipment to prevent injury to patients and to self.
Applies principles of radiology safety in the performance of position responsibilities.
Maintains awareness of own limitations and seeks guidance from appropriate personnel when needed.

Job Summary and Qualifications
The Radiological Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures that require rational independent judgement, ingenuity, and initiative in performing standard examinations in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
What you will do in this role:
Demonstrates competency in radiation exposure and monitoring.
Demonstrates competency in ALAR and dose equivalent limits.
Demonstrates competency and knowledge of Radiation physics.
Demonstrates competency with critical behaviors and age specific care.
Demonstrates competency with appropriate method of patient identifiers. Two ID's.
Demonstrates knowledge of proper radiation protection of patients and employees in accordance with ACR, NRC, and ARRT (time, distance, shielding).
Demonstrates knowledge of automatic exposure control (AEC)
Demonstrates knowledge of image processing and quality assurance.
Demonstrates knowledge for criteria for image evaluation.
Demonstrates knowledge of image distortion (magnification, OID, SID).
What qualifications you will need:
Must have graduated from an accredited school of Radiological Technology with an Associates degree or equivalent.
BCLS required
Must be A.R.R.T. (RT).
Must have Texas Medical Board license (TMB)
Clinical experience is preferred

Education:

Bachelor of Science degree in Radiology, Radiologic Sciences, Radiologic Technology, Radiologic and Imaging or equivalent is preferred
Certification:
Current, valid certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification
Current, valid American Heart Association certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
License/Registration/Certificate:
Current, valid, and unrestricted license, registration, or certificate from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
Experience:
Post graduate experience is not required, new graduates accepted
Language Proficiency:
Fluency in Spanish is highly desired but not required
