The Cardiac Cath Lab Radiologic Technologist under the direction of the Cath Lab Supervisor is responsible for performing the daily operations for the Cardiac Cath Lab. The Cardiac Cath Lab Radiologic Technologist is responsible for direct and indirect patient care, scrubbing for diagnostic/interventional cases and hemodynamic monitoring. The Cardiac Cath Lab Radiologic Technologist demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of adults and adult-geriatric patients in the Cath Lab. The individual demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient population served. Assumes, under the direction of the Laboratory, responsibility for patient specimen testing, quality control, quality improvement, and equipment maintenance. Roles and Responsibilities: * Assists Cardiologist in performance of diagnostic invasive procedures. Maintains operational knowledge of Cath Lab equipment according to manufactures specifications. * Assists and performs diagnostic invasive procedures in the Cardiac Cath Lab. Scrubs and assists Cardiologist as requested. Responds to patient distress situations and assists with equipment quality control and inventory management. Prepares sterile trays, instruments, supplies and equipment necessary for procedures, and maintains sterile field. Provides all appropriate services to safely and efficiently complete patient procedures. Maintains knowledge of cardiac concepts and clinical practices. Ensures patients are correctly prepped and draped in a sterile fashion. * Possesses the knowledge & skills level of basic and complex invasive procedures which may include: Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI), stents, IABP placement and operation and peripheral interventions.
