Anoka County company history timeline

1840

In the late 1840’s, the first logging operations took place in the Anoka area.

1844

Father Lewis Hennepin first visited this area in 1680 and settlers came to stay in 1844.

1856

In 1856, a ferry was established across the Mississippi river, connecting Anoka with the City of Champlin.

1884

The worst fire in the downtown area, in 1884, destroyed 86 buildings from the Rum River to Third Avenue.

1920

In October of 1920, Anoka had its first Halloween celebration.

1960

Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts An index to more than 600 periodicals in the fields of librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, and information management, with coverage back to the mid-1960's.

2008

Made possible by the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund through the vote of Minnesotans on November 4, 2008.
