Organized - the ability to prioritize and complete assigned tasks proficiently within set time standards. If Restricted Position, please paste statement Departmental Objective Facilities Management is responsible for maintaining campus buildings utilizing the carpentry, plumbing, electrical and HVAC trades as well as housekeeping and floor maintenance. Purpose of the Position This position will assist the Plumbing technicians in the repair and maintenance of plumbing systems for all campus buildings, ie., water, sewer, gas, oil, steam, and any associated components. To work under direct supervision of the Supervisor and Plumbing technicians and assist in all aspects of the plumbing trade. To perform all work in a professional, conscientious and safe manner. This position performs other duties as assigned. This position has the ability to be converted to a Plumber Steamfitter position upon the attainment of a Plumbing Journeyman's License. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position Required: * Working knowledge of methods, practices, materials and equipment associated with the plumbing/steam fitting trade. * Knowledge of plumbing and gas code * Good oral and written communication skills * Understanding of OSHA and VOSH regulations * Valid driver's license * Ability to maintain adequate records * Ability to operate various types of equipment and machines * Ability to follow all safety policies and wear PPE as required * Ability to be on-call on a rotational basis. Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required Education Required: * High school graduate or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma Experience Required: * Experience in the plumbing/steam fitting trade Additional Consideration(s) Education Preferred: * Currently enrolled or recently completed a trade school with focus on plumbing Experience Preferred: Experience in the operation and maintenance of fountains and/or fire places Experience in a college or university setting Salary Information Starting at $36,552, Commensurate with Education and Experience.
