About the role:
The Property Care Assistant supports the overall upkeep, safety, and appearance of Central Virginia Housing properties. This role provides year-round exterior maintenance, seasonal groundskeeping, basic repairs, and general property care to ensure clean, safe, and welcoming communities. The Property Care Assistant works closely with the Property Management Team to complete scheduled tasks, respond to maintenance needs, and assist with special projects across multiple CVH locations.

Responsibilities:
Groundskeeping & Exterior Care
Perform routine grounds maintenance, including trash pickup, debris removal, and general cleanup around buildings and common areas.
Spray weeds in designated areas such as parking lots, dumpster enclosures, and sidewalks; remove dead vegetation as needed.
Blow leaves, pine needles, and debris from walkways, road edges, and entry routes.
Trim small branches, sprouts, and overgrowth near buildings, fences, and parking areas.
Seasonal Property Tasks
Assist with snow- and weather-related cleanup as needed.
Conduct property-wide exterior inspections to identify hazards, fencing issues, downspout repairs, and damaged or missing components.
Replace bird covers on dryer vents and report any vent or exterior openings needing attention.
Maintenance Support
Power wash patios, building exteriors, concrete pads, dumpster enclosures, and entry areas as scheduled.
Support gutter cleaning, downspout correction, and minor exterior repairs.
Replace HVAC filters in residential units following supplied procedures (including labeling and documentation).
Help prepare and maintain sprinkler rooms by removing webs, debris, and buildup; clean and organize interior and exterior access points.
Painting & Property Appearance
Paint exterior doors, columns, siding, and other assigned surfaces according to CVH standards.
Assist with scraping and prepping surfaces prior to painting.
Ensure paint supplies are maintained and report any needed materials.
Project Assistance
Support special cleanups, volunteer days, and property management initiatives.
Complete assigned work orders efficiently and professionally.
Communicate progress, issues, and material needs to the Property Management Team.
