We are seeking a results-driven and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in analyzing bid opportunities, developing strategic pricing and proposal approaches, and ensuring all cost estimates are accurate, complete, and submitted on time. Your work will directly contribute to the success of our project pursuits and client satisfaction.
This position requires a strong blend of technical proficiency, strategic thinking, and interpersonal communication. Pay: $80,000-$140,000 OTE, based on experience
Key Responsibilities:
Review and analyze bid documents to identify qualified and strategic opportunities.
Develop winning strategies for bids and proposals that highlight our competitive advantages.
Prepare accurate and complete cost estimates, ensuring timely submission in accordance with bid schedules.
Review all estimates and revisions for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with project scope.
Collaborate closely with the General Manager and other key stakeholders to ensure cohesive project planning and execution.
Maintain and document the flow of project information between internal and external stakeholders.
Prepare conceptual budgets based on design concepts and owner-provided data.
Evaluate alternate methods and materials to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal departments and external clients.
Develop and manage a comprehensive cost database, including labor and equipment rates, production rates, and installation methods.
Continuously refine estimating processes, procedures, and guidelines for consistency and accuracy.
Generate clear, detailed reports and documentation to support estimating and business development efforts.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in budget preparation and department-level financial planning.
Demonstrated expertise in DOT (Department of Transportation) estimating.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and at least one professional estimating software platform.
Ability to interpret civil, construction, and traffic control plans and specifications.
Design-Build project experience is preferred.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
Effective in both independent and collaborative work environments.
Strategic thinker with attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in project documentation and plans.
Preferred Experience:
Minimum 3 years of estimating experience in traffic control or related industries.
Direct involvement with the state DOT project bidding is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
Prior to beginning work become familiar with and review all bidding requirements in addition to the project documents.

Send out bid invitations via the latest bid invitation software and update the bidders' list as required. Contact key subcontractors and vendors early in the process to ensure pricing coverage.
Attend pre-bid meetings as required. Survey the situation to determine competition on the project. Review site logistics and access while on site.
Prepare “take off” and check for completeness. Coordinate with 3rd party quantity take-off consultants when so utilized.
Prepare pricing for all self-preformed work and adjust standard productivity in accordance with job requirements.
Prepare estimate summary sheets, subcontractor/vendor comparisons, and bid sheets.
Communicate with designers on contract document items not clearly shown on the bid documents. Document using RFI's (Request for Information).
Qualifications
5-10 years of job experience in commercial construction highly preferred.
Experience in Waterproofing Estimating.
BS degree in Construction Management or Engineering.
Thorough understanding of industry practices and standards.
Strong foundation in database management (ex. Excel) and related industry software (ex. Bluebeam).
Highly collaborative work style with excellent communication skills.

As an Estimator you're responsible for all estimating responsibilities on one or more construction projects for the duration of projects assigned; work with the project manager and project executive to achieve successful completion of projects; interface with current and prospective clients regarding cost and/or design issues.
