POSITION SUMMARY The Mental Health Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, clinical and/or administrative supervision, and monitoring of a Behavioral Health services delivery system in MA DOC Secure Treatment Units meeting NCCHC/ACA standards. The Mental Health Coordinator works with the Regional Manager, Site Administrator, Medical Director, and Psychiatrist to coordinate total contract services in MA DOC Secure Treatment Units SCHEDULE Full Time MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Must be fluent in English language, including reading, writing, and must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information. Must be a supportive team member, who contributes to and demonstrates teamwork and team concept. Able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCES Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field from an accredited college or university. Licensed to practice behavioral health services in the state where services are being delivered (LICSW or LMHC required). ESSENTIAL FUNCTION Acts as point of contact for administrative staff for discussion of treatment unit programs and problem resolution as needed. Coordinates development and revision of policies and procedures for the identification, assessment, and provision of required clinical services for inmates housed in Secure Treatment Units. Supervises the planning, development and implementation of treatment programs contracted to VitalCore. Provides clinical and/or administrative supervision to staff of Behavioral Health Services within Secure Treatment Units. Monitors efforts of Behavioral Health Services in Secure Treatment Units to ensure clinical services are being provided in a timely, professional manner. Provides and assigns clinical on-call duties. Provides direct clinical services including individual and group treatment, crisis intervention, as well as providing shadowing and mentor opportunities to front-line clinical staff. Ensures treatment programs contracted are integrated and appropriately staffed. Provides administrative support to behavioral health staff. Coordinates with the facility's Behavioral Health Quality Improvement Program. Attends training and meetings as required. Maintain proficiency with all software required for the position, and more specifically, clinical documentation in the designated electronic health record system. Other duties as assigned. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will: * Provide ongoing support for students; * Conduct functional behavior assessments; * Write and maintain positive behavior support plans; * Draft appropriate portions of IEPs, and participate in specific IEP meetings; * Oversee assessments, plan development, and ongoing program data analysis to ensure maximum student progress; * Attend weekly staff meetings; * Develop and conduct staff training; * Coordinate with related service providers (OT, SLP, PT, and BCBA) to integrate all aspects of the related services recommendations into the individualized student plans; * Coordinate with home service providers or agencies; * Provide regular daily communication with teachers and paraprofessionals about behavioral plans, schedules, and expectations for student support; * Participate in professional meetings that assist in identifying best practices and continued growth for academic social/emotional and daily living skills; * Create opportunities for students to practice developmentally appropriate daily living activities to promote independence; * Communicate classroom supports and needs such as curriculum and supply needs to school and district-level special education leadership; * Write student IEP progress reports and goals; * Administer formal and informal assessments as required; * Meet and instruct assigned students in the locations and at the time designated * Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum standards and establish clear objectives that reflect these standards for all lessons, units, and projects; * Implement the district's mission, philosophy of education, and instructional standards and objectives; * Document the progress of students and seek the assistance of additional district specialists as required; * Monitor and supervise students; * Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement; * Use innovative approaches, and instructional strategies including the effective use of technologies, to increase student learning and confidence to learn; * Follow professional practices consistent with the district's policies in working with students, parents, and colleagues; * Attend and participate in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings and activities according to school policy; * Maintain and improve professional competence through attendance at professional development events, and by self-generated activities that meet district expectations and the requirements for recertification; * Write student IEP progress reports and goals; * Differentiate instruction and provide appropriate opportunities for learning; * Assist administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and, for the classroom, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, maintaining order in the classroom in a fair and just manner; * Strive to maintain and improve professional competence especially as relates to the specific assignment and student grade and subject area appropriateness; * Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, colleagues, and parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of assigned students; * Promote equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning, including, implementing specific strategies for students with special needs, with 504 plans and/or English learners (EL); * Perform other duties that may be assigned by the building principal/assistant principal The responsibilities and duties listed are illustrations of the various types of work performed.
