School Social Worker - Key Responsibilities:
Student Support & Counseling: Provide individual and group counseling to address students' social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs.
IEP & 504 Plan Collaboration: Participate in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans. Offer social-emotional input, behavioral goals, and recommendations for interventions.
Family & Community Liaison: Act as a bridge between home, school, and community resources. Support families by connecting them to relevant services and programs.
Crisis Intervention: Respond to crises and provide immediate support to students, staff, and families during emergency situations.
Case Management & Documentation: Maintain thorough and confidential records of student progress, services provided, and communication with stakeholders. Prepare documentation for IEP meetings and evaluations.
Multidisciplinary Team Participation: Collaborate with educators, psychologists, counselors, administrators, and other team members to assess student needs and create holistic support plans.
School Social Worker Qualifications:
Degree: Master's Degree in Social Work
Licensure: Either a Preliminary or Professional School Social Worker Certificate from the Michigan Online Educator Certification System
Clearances: Criminal Background Check and TB Clearance
Work Authorization: Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working in a school-based setting
Strong knowledge of community mental health resources
