Checkers note every component that's loaded or unloaded from vessel ships, barges, and terminal warehouses. Checkers will utilize paperwork, and often use handheld computerized scanners. Communicates via 2-way radio with drivers, clerks, warehouse personnel, security guards to coordinate logistics of cargo operations.
Locates and verifies all cargo that is on the load list.
Inspects and documents condition of cargo prior to any movement of cargo.
Appropriately marks each piece of cargo.
Compliance with the company safety plan, including utilization of required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times when in a work zone.
QUALIFICATIONS
