Requirements/Qualifications for the Restorative CNA:

Role Summary

r has been sent to the physician and that a copy is maintained in medication files. Assure that corrections to the MAR are made in ink, and that correction fluid or cover-labels are not used in the MAR. Assure that any changes to the medication order are tagged on the prescription bottle, but that the prescription label is not altered.
Documentation of Medication Administration: Assure that all medication administration is documented by the individual assisting with administration and follows all applicable regulations. In the event of resident absence or resident refusal of medications, assure that this absence or refusal is documented in compliance with all applicable regulations.
Medication Supply: Assure that there is an adequate supply of medications on hand for each resident. Specifically, in the event less than 3 day supply of medication, order refill, send in new prescription, or refer problem immediately to the assigned caseworker.
Medication Changes: Changes are made only when there is a prescribing practitioner's written order, or when there is a

r in place. If there is a new medication prescribed, assure that the pharmacy gets the prescription and delivers new medication. If there is a medication with dosage change and the actual pill changes, assure pharmacy gets the prescription and delivers the new medication (making sure to pull the supply of the previous dosage). If there is a medication with a dosage change, but no new prescription (for example, the doctor changes the order from 2 pills twice a day, to one pill twice a day), the MAR is changed to reflect the change and assure that the prescription container is tagged with the change.
Incontinence Supplies: Assist residents with monitoring and management of supplies used to assist with incontinence issues. Work closely with outside providers, insurance companies, pharmacy, Fleming House Social Service and PCA staff to ensure that residents are receiving proper amounts of supplies at appropriate times.
Medication Updates: Create/collect/ maintain all

forms related to resident appointments with outside providers. Assure that all information related to medical appointments is properly disseminated to appropriate caseworker.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise the personal hygiene and physical well-being of the residents.
Assist residents as needed in activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, walking, and other personal care needs.
Monitor to assure that residents are eating meals regularly each day.

Work Environment: This position will spend time at the program site and at the Front Desk/Reception area.
Travel: Ability to travel between BFLA Program sites, ability to travel as directed.

Barrier Free Living (BFL) is dedicated to helping New Yorkers with disabilities live independently in the community. Through its various programs, BFL provides a broad range of residential and nonresidential services to disabled survivors of domestic violence, transitional shelter to the disabled homeless, and outreach to physically disabled individuals with mental health and/or chemical addiction issues. Services include case management; housing placements; independent living skills training; occupational therapy; short and long-term individual counseling; advocacy within the medical, mental health, child welfare, law enforcement, and criminal justice systems; and referrals to outside services.
About Barrier Free Living Apartments
Barrier Free Living Apartments (BFLA) is a supportive housing program. BFLA offers services to vulnerable and needy populations with disabilities who are survivors of domestic violence, specifically, homeless disabled adults and disabled veterans and for families who have a head of household with a disabling medical condition. BFLA's program is physically designed and equipped to serve people with physical disabilities. The facility is located in the South Bronx. There are two buildings: a 70-unit studio apartment building for adult singles and a 50-unit apartment building for families. BFLA's supportive housing program is located on Cypress Avenue and East 138th/139th Streets.
Role Summary
The Resident Aides are a crucial part of the team at Barrier Free Living Apartments, staffing the reception desks. They are vital to ensuring a safe environment for building tenants and program staff. Reception/Front Desk provide crucial assistance to residents by assisting them with connecting to clinical and family center staff. Resident Aides work closely with clinical, family center, and building staff in the regular course of their work.
Responsibilities
Provide coverage at the Reception Desk in monitoring entry and exit of staff, residents and visitors; answering and directing, as appropriate, telephone calls; and completing other administrative duties as requested by supervisors
Assist in monitoring compliance with fire and other safety regulations related to the facility
Maintaining courteous, professional, respectful interactions with all residents, staff and guests
Must demonstrate the knowledge of appropriate boundaries with all residents and staff as outlined in the Employee Handbook
Assist in addressing and following up on any incidents related to security or safety within the facility, providing emergency response and crisis management help as needed
Ensure timely and appropriate completion of all log and incident documentation required by supervisors in recording security and safety issues/incidents
Complete light housekeeping tasks, at the request and direction of the Shift supervisor. These tasks may include, but are not limited to, sweeping, mopping, trash removal, snow removal or cleaning when housekeeping staff is unavailable and where a safety concern is determined by the Shift Supervisor
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of six months prior experience working in a residential setting preferred.
Strong oral communication skills and fundamental writing competency are required.
Ability to think and act calmly in emergency situations required.
Experience working with people with disabilities is highly desirable.
Computer literate
Spanish or other non-English language skills and/or American Sign Language skills preferred
Must provide COVID-19 Vaccination FDA-authorized record
Able to lift approximately 10 -15 pounds.
