The Allied Health School CLS Program Director for the Cedars-Sinai Allied Health School (AHS) within the Cedars-Sinai Health Sciences University (HSU) is an educational leader in the CLS field and provides subject matter expertise in the administration of the academic program. The CLS Program Director ensures that the educational program aligns with accreditation standards and prepares graduates for successful placement in their field. This role is responsible for curriculum development, coordinating teaching assignments, and maintaining communication with affiliated education teams. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for ensuring that the test(s) requested by physicians and facilities are performed in an accurate and timely manner and the Laboratory policies and procedures are followed and implemented correctly. Follows the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing analysis, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results. Ensuring that the patient's name and specimen number are correctly identified. Type of specimen and time drawn is correct for the test ordered. Specimen integrity has been maintained from the initial draw / pick-up of specimen(s) until arrival and completion of test(s) requested. Follows the laboratory's procedures for handling potentially infectious materials. Maintains records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples. Adheres to the laboratory's quality control policies, documents all quality control activities instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed. Follows the laboratory's quality control policies whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established levels of performance. Capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results. Documents all corrective action taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications. Reviews outgoing reports for technical and clerical errors. Able to communicate with nurses and physicians, and ability to work well with others. Assist the Lead CLS in maintaining adequate supplies and inventory levels. Demonstrates the ability to prioritize work duties. Recognizes the administrative changes in staffing and scheduling and adapt to these changes. Assists in developing and installing quality control standards to ensure accuracy of test results. Assists the Lead CLS in reviewing and solving quality control problems. Initiates, suggests and if necessary, implements technical and administrative changes upon approval of the Laboratory Director. EXPERIENCE / SKILLS REQUIRED Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in medical technology, microbiology, chemistry, biology or related field. Possession of Clinical Laboratory Scientist's license issued by the State of California or equivalent license approved by LFS (Laboratory Field Services). Must meet CLIA requirements for testing personnel for High Complexity Testing. Have documentation of training, knowledge and experience in the department(s) assigned (Microbiology, Hematology, Chemistry and / or Immunology) to work. Have the necessary language reasoning and mathematical skills to follow and implement the laboratory policies and procedures approved by the Laboratory Director. One California Job Summary and Responsibilities Lab Clinical Tech - Clinical Laboratory Services St. John's Regional Medical Center We are seeking a highly motivated Lab Clinical Tech. As a Lab Clinical Tech you will actively participate as a team member in the systems, functions and activities of the unit/department. Other duties associated with clinical lab functions are clerical in nature, including, but not limited to such acts as patient registration, telephone communication, filing, sorting, distribution, typing, data entry and frequent use of laboratory computer system(s) to process specimens. Uses patients bar-coded label or requisition slip and patients armband to correctly identify patients first and last name as well as MR and or Visit # date of birth and mothers name on newborns to insure accurate patient identification. Prioritizes STAT TIMED and ROUTINE draws and transports accordingly to meet turnaround times. Responds to all requests and pages in a timely manner consistent with laboratory policies. Follows all OSHA and CAP requirements in performance of job. Maintains the appropriate stock level of supplies in work area and for procedures before leaving end of shift. Job Requirements Six (6) months recent hospital experience as a Clinical Technician / Phlebotomist required. Must have a High School education Successful completion of the State of California approved Phlebotomy Training Program Phlebotomy License required. (CT Phlebot Lic) American Heart Association Basic Life Support required. (AHA BLS) Special Skills: Excellent communication skills. Ability to be an effective team member. The Gao Lab investigates the biology of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and their niches under normal and diseased conditions, with a particular focus on how the niche within and beyond the bone marrow regulates HSC behavior. In this capacity the CLS performs the pre-analytical, analytical and post analytical testing and is responsible for quality control, equipment maintenance and all reporting and documentation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Processes samples and performs the required sample transport, accessioning and pre-analytical processing.
